I hit the recall lottery, too! Going in tomorrow and will post the work order details.
As a reference, I own a 2015 991.1 GTS.

Cool! What number is yours? I checked the VIN tool when I heard about the heat shield campaign and it returned "no open recalls." Guess the key is that it is not a recall, but a campaign which probably means, whenever you see the car in the dealership next, fix it. That's one of the reasons I go to the dealer. I have a good one here and they have never gouged me.

Just picked mine up after both campaigns were completed. Definitely something different about the way the car drives - the shift points/mapping in the PDK is different (not sure if that's because they disconnected the battery and everything reset including my historical data patterns/learning) and the steering feels different ... probably my updates to the steering software I ran were possibly reverted back to factory settings.

I didn't hear a loud whining noise at all but the car is off that is for sure. We will see how it goes after some hours of driving if it re learns.

Overall, I'm neutral on this one, I guess if there was a potential for fires and this shield stops that threat, then it's worth it.

I picked up the car today and now the PCM unit reboots very 2-3 minutes. From what I've read it could be related to a software update, battery, fuses or a faulty head unit. Will post the final repair sheet when this non-sense is over with.

My SA confirmed that the heat shield is critical to replace as they've observed air filters catching on fire.

Ain't that a coincidence!

My PCM just started doing that tonight. I had the car (2016 GTS) in for the heat shield retrofit campaign and some other stuff about 9 days ago and haven't driven much since then.

The PCM works normally for about 2 minutes, then the display flickers and goes off along with the audio, accompanied by a little clicking noise. The display then turns back on with the Porsche color logo, then the "GTS" wallpaper, and then my normal radio pre-set display. It then reconnects to my cell phone. About 2 minutes later it repeats all of this. What is really odd is that if I turn the radio/display off manually by holding down the VOL button, the damn thing turns itself back on after a few minutes and the on/off/on/off problem resumes. Also I think the gps is showing the wrong location - it seems to be stuck at the place where the PCM nonsense first happened.

Where else did you read about this PCM reboot issue?

Just had the same PCM reboot glitch occur this afternoon (2013 S). Maybe the virus is playing havoc with the electronics.

I hate and love patterns, my symptoms are identical to yours.
Would venture a guess that we are victims to a software update during the unrelated recall repair.

Here's what a quick interwebz search revealed:

https://f01.justanswer.com/heavy_che...cm_reboots.pdf

https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne-...3-minutes.html

Will post an update as soon as I know more from the dealer.

Bemo, thanks for those links. So, many possible causes. Maybe the recent cancellation of my XM data subscription or my experimentation with the ParkAssist on/off button had something to do with it. Or maybe not. Since my post about the PCM reboot, I found these discussions that deal with hard drive failure as the cause:

So the fact that you had the cars in for the campaign and after had PCM problems is just coincidental?

Two is a pattern. My Sirius radio subscription is current so you can eliminate that as a possible cause. Heading to Porsche Fairfield now.
Will take a look at the links you provided though I did stumble across few threads about the hard drive failure. Thanks!!

OK, quick question. A few of you have already noted this Air Filter. What the heck filter is this, and why is it a $132 part at places like Sunset?:

https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...er-00004321007

This does not sound like the simple inexpensive ($20-ish) accordion style pre-filter in the frunk, nor the active charcoal filter ($60-ish) in the cabin under the glove box. So what is it??

I woke up this morning to take my 2014 C2 911 991 for heat shield recall. On my drive in the PCM started shutting off every 2 mins. Talked with the dealer when I arrived. Said it would need a new PCM to fix the problem if it wasn't just an easy software update. Just a coincidence? Dealership had another 991 in with the same issue.
