I'm late to this thread, and just realized that there was an unofficial recall, called a service campaign to install a heat shield on the rear frame, and a filter in the gas tank. Since my car hasn't burned up since I last changed the oil myself this year, I don't think that it will be a problem going another 6 months for the heat shield installation. Is there any problem waiting for the air filter in the gas tank? (as I have little idea what this item even does) Thanks!

By the way, what does that filter of the WLC8 campaign do, anyway? Thanks.

GAH of course they issue a recall that requires taking off the bumper, spoiler, and intake just a couple months after the shady dealer charges me 736365857376 hours of labor to get in there to replace the defective COVs.

From what I gather, it seems the sole purpose of this shield is for preventing a fire AFTER a rag is accidentally left in the engine compartment or am I missing something?

When you put it that way, it kinda makes you wonder how much faith they have in their techs 🤣

How many of you are getting other services done "while your car is there" that you'll be paying for out of pocket?

Sneaky way of helping the dealerships? I could be really reaching here, but...
My dealer wrote t me that the heat shield was factory covered so free of charge. They however didn't mention the other fix so just wrote to them to check.

I had my car in at the Ferrari dealer and they told me I had 2 recalls, heat shield, and carbon something or another. I put my VIN in the website and got no recalls. I guess I need to visit the Porsche dealer.

You don't seen anything because it is not a recall. It is a workshop campaign, which includes putting in the heat shield and replacing fuel tank leak diagnostic module.

Thanks @Porsche_nuts for the clarification. Will Porsche contact me or should I contact the dealer? How long does this take to complete? Sorry if it has been mentioned. I didn't read all 16 pages.

You need to contact the dealership and make an appointment. It took two days for me, if I recall correctly.

My dealer only replaced the WLA4, free of charge. The tank valve was not replaced as they said it wasn’t needed for my model (I have a 991 from 2014)...

I noticed the sound difference! Prior to the heat shield install when starting up you could tell the distinctive shift to lower frequency sound when the engine RPMs lowered to normal idle. That distinctive tone change has now less lessened significantly (or disappeared) . Overall engine pitch is a little higher and I miss my old slight "rumble"...

Both campaigns were completed on my car in October during the year end oil change preparation for winter hibernation. All total, I was in & out in under 4 hours.

My 2014 991S required both campaigns. FYI. Maybe yours is also more region specific, being in Panama City??

Which air filter did they replace with this recall? Did they only replace one of two air filters? Does that mean that I need to go in again and replace the second air filter which is coming up on service now?
