Correct. The filter being replaced is an air filter for the fuel system, not the engine air filter.

Thank you @BGLeduc and @Class5Kayaker for clarifying. I was just a bit confused when @Bemo showed the pics of his Yellow bird

You are not alone. There have been comments here questioning the same thing. You are not the first. I was not sure until I saw the TSB. That really clarified the situation in my mind,

Agreed, it was confusing after that post. That's why I posted the pic from the TSB so this thread didn't start going in the wrong direction with people thinking they were going to have their engine air filters replaced.

^^^ Thank you gentlemen, for the clarification. As always, my SA misled me in that it was an engine air filter that got changed.

Just chiming in to vent. I had this service bulletin performed today at Sunset Porsche. While I was there I decided to go to the parts department to get a price on the gaskets for the exhaust manifold. I'm having a set of Soul headers installed next week. The parts manager told me that I have to replace the bolts as well. I'm skeptical about that since all the threads I've read here and from YouTube videos, it doesn't mention replacing the bolts. I said fine. Give me a price for everything. They called me later in the day and told me Its going to cost $211 Plus tax. This place is in Oregon. There's no sales tax. I did not buy the parts. When I got home I ordered the gaskets online through their site for $73.42 shipped. Frustrating.

I had my heat shield done today as well and got a 2020 Macan as a loaner. I really like the lines of the Macan, much more so than the Cayenne. Mine was abase model with less than 5k miles on it. From a performance / handling standpoint, it was ok, maybe impressive compared to a minivan or other SUV, but nothing to really write home about. Maybe you got a GTS or something as a loaner?

I got a 718 boxer GTS for a loaner. I did not like it. It was loud and sometimes it sounded like my neighbors Subaru. Damn thing was fast and corners though.

I got my recall done too, along with replacing engine filter and replacing spark plugs and coils. Regarding the plugs, I tried doing it myself, but had so much trouble just removing the heat shields through all that plumbing, that I decided just to have Porsche do it with the plugs and coils I purchased. Kudos to those who were able to DIY it.

As for the loaner, got a Macan too. It had 231 miles on it. Nice car, but it was a numb driving experience for me. But then again, not a big fan of SUVs.

I had my 2014 991.1 Targa in for a recall on the top, some sort of gap check. Mine seemed fine. But when I dropped it off they said there were two more recalls. 1) exhaust shield 2) fuel tank vapor sensor. The whole job took about 4 hours.

Had the heat shield done and ever since I hear a weird noise coming from the engine bay. Hard to describe, but never heard it prior to heat shield. I had BMC filters put in too, but am sure it cannot be that. Anyone else who had HS done hear weird whoshing sound coming from engine bay? 2015 GTS.

Did you really need coil packs replaced? Were you getting fault codes, or just being extra diligent & proactive?

I think the noise (intake noise) you are hearing is related to the less restricted BMC filters.

Most probably did not need new coils but there was a post a month or two ago regarding a bad coil issue and decided to be proactive and get it done since plugs were getting done anyway.

Regarding BMC filters - maybe. Anyone with BMC filters hear a difference in sound since replacing?

The other possibility is, that your front strut bearings are so quiet now, that you are just hearing more intake noise.
