I'm excited to see what we get for a loaner! We dont have any experience with Porsche cars minus the one I have.

The dealer is actually letting me bring my own oil so they can do an oil change. Figured I might as well throw them a bone and have them change the oil while it's there.

This does not sound like the simple inexpensive ($20-ish) accordion style pre-filter in the frunk, nor the active charcoal filter ($60-ish) in the cabin under the glove box. So what is it??
LexVan - I stumbled across this Porsche Service Bulletin online as I was looking at this thread, and it shows exactly what goes into the work, including a diagram of where that air filter is:

I haven't had the work done on my car yet, but mine falls within the years affected, so I suppose I'll call the dealer. I am due for a 60K service anyway... although I am not sure what goes into a 60K service. Trying to think of what I might want to ask to get done as long as the engine is exposed.

Thank you, _BK, I appreciate the link you gave.

Regarding your 60K service, and assuming you have a 991.1 AND you did the 40K service (or 4 years) on-time, you may only need an oil change, and maybe a brake fluid (every 2 years) flush and the pre-filter & cabin filters (easy enough to do it yourself). The 40K is the BIG one. If you have a 991.2 the service schedule is a little different and may require more attention at 30,000 mile intervals.

These cars don’t have BIG services. Big to me is timing belt, engine out service etc

Air filters and spark plugs is nothing.

That's what I was thinking. I was about to go back and look up the 40k service again cause I thought I missed something. We did the 40k service on my 991.1. Only thing I didn't do is the Pdk service.

Do you all recommend I get that done while at the dealer for the heat shield? I've got 27k on my '16 gts. I noticed someone else did, so it got me thinking.

**after reading more about the pdk service recommendation, I think I'll skip it and do it myself when it's closer to the recommend 6/60k.

I just had lots of maintenance done last month, including replacing the air filters. I wonder if I can just wait till the next oil and filter change to do these two service campaigns. I doubt there was a rag left on the heat shield during the last maintenance. It is the WLC8 that I am concerned, the tank leakage diagnostic module. As the title implies, it checks if the tank is leaking gasoline?

Cost for serpentine belt as I am thinking of doing the same thing. Thanks.

So I changed my air filters today and the filter on the right certainly looks a lot cleaner then the left, which supports the recall paperwork. Nonetheless, I was surprised that a 2-week old filter could be this dirty. The other is 4 years old.
Thoughts?
Regardless for those about to have the recall work, ask the dealer to change both even if you have to pay for the extra one.

I wonder if air filter part no 000-043-210-07 is the same as 991-110-130-00. I just had my indi replace them and invoice shows the 991 parts number. While I don't mind that the WLC8 is replacing the air filter, I kind of find it wasteful to replace a newly installed one with another one. Maybe I'll ask the SA if I can keep my recently installed one for future use

anyone else?
No change in sound at all to mine, with windows up or down. Why would there be any change in sound? It's just a piece they put in a gap where some service techs had stuck a rag to prevent oil from running down when filter is changed. Some caused fires.

I am pretty sure it is not. It is a separate item specific to the fuel sensor recall. My receipt from the dealer lists the filter as part of the fuel sensor work. The only items for the heat shield work are a cross member and a rivet.

The TSB that was posted previously for the fuel sensor clearly shows how the filter is installed along with the sensor. I don't think either of these two workshop campaigns require a replacement for an engine air filter.
