I'll already had a new pump on my 9000mi 991.2. I think the problem is not that there is a problem but that Porsche has had years to correct this problem and has not seem to be able to correct it. I came from the Ferrari world for 20 years and this was very much a Ferrari problem with blown headers, blown cats, delaminated windsheilds and interior parts that get sticky with heat. The same problems kept not getting resolved for model after model. A pump is a problem because it can leave you stranded somewhere. Porsches are driven sometimes for 1000 mi trips unlike Ferraris so getting stranded is more of a reality for Porches. Would not hesitate to take a 1000mi trip, have taken two 4000mi trips in my Macan , but pump failure will be on my mind To me the question should be not how many had their pumps replaced but how many had to have it replaced twice?

You might want to look into some of the seismic issues Macan are having. https://www.pcarwise.com/local-help/...mmon-problems/

Please give it a rest Carlos and stay in your 996 forum unless you have something useful, helpful and relevant to say not just these ignorant & baiting troll comments. It's getting old and lacks any substance.. Cheers.

You know, F355bob, Carlos_Carrera has a point, perhaps we all should go out and buy 20 yr old technology and naysay around the 996 forum, that way, it would be molehill to us too, just a thought.

Just replaced, 2017 . The SA said it was a very small leak (which I knew) and in most cases a repair would not have been recommended. That puzzled me because I would think a water pump should not leak AT ALL, and if it was, then fixing it early would be preferable to waiting until it was gushing. Plus, how prudent would it be to drive my car to the dealer 4 hr away with a much bigger leak? But what do I know.

Adding another 2017 C2 to the list. 31,xxx miles. All covered under warranty.
I'm also in the Bay Area and was advised to skip Stevens Creek. Went to Carlsen's in Redwood City and they replaced it with no fuss. They also noticed my engine cover struts had gone out and replaced those as well.
Dropped off on a Monday and sounds like I'll have it back by Friday at the latest.

Just curious: What’s involved in a water pump change? Is it a simple raise car, unbolt bad pump, install good pump, or more complicated (i.e. drop the engine)?

Following this thread for info... I understand that even in the 992 (mine) there are some cars with recalls... on the 992 side of the forums, one guy said his 4/19 build as well as his friends 1/20 build are both affected by a water pump recall..
This is a bit alarming considering this engine has now been in production in one for or another for 5 or more years.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no "recall" on water pumps for 991.2 models. When you see pinkish deposits at the rear bottom of the engine or on the garage floor, you take it to the dealer post haste for replacement.
