Thanks. My T has almost exactly double that mileage. Just kind of hoping if my pump’s going to go, it does so before the 3 year (UK) warranty expires...

It will go at some point. And I would anticipate the replacement failing too.

Default 😡 need some advice

Took my car in to Porsche St. Louis today, and they told me since the water pump is not actively dripping onto the pavement, they can’t replace under warranty. Mind you, take a look at the pictures and take notice of the residual stains underneath the weather pump from recently dried antifreeze.

Needless to say, I’m not very happy at the moment.

^^ I guess they'd rather replace it after it's done some damage ( and then get some additional warranty money out of the mothership ) ?????

I would take it to another porsche dealership. That is enough evidence that you have a leak.

They are lying to you. Take it somewhere else.

Mine looked nearly identical to yours...water pump replaced, no questions. In fact I just mentioned that I was worried about driving it, and they sent a flat bed and picked up from my garage. Go to another dealer or speak to the General Manager.

Yes, I’m not done with with this. Unfortunately it’s the only dealership in town, so I’ll be calling the General Manager this morning, and if no satisfaction is achieved I will go through Porsche North America. It shouldn’t have to be this difficult.

i told him them I just finished a track event last weekend, and have another one scheduled in November. My statement back to the service writer was “so you’re telling me to continue to track this car at various tracks until this water pumps actually starts discharging antifreeze onto the track?” Can I have this in writing please . 😂 The service writer felt bad about this, the Service Manager is the problem.

I don't understand why your dealership is not willing to fix this known problem. It is after all a warranty fix. You're still under warranty right?? When I had this issue, I took the car in told them I had antifreeze on my garage floor and showed them where it was leaking from. They immediately said that it looked like the water pump and scheduled a fix.

Mine is in now. Took a week for the water pump to arrive. Hope to have it back soon. 2017 GTS 7000 miles. Mine leaked one weekend on startup on the garage floor then didn’t leak again in a week’s worth of driving. They saw the stains and I took a picture of the coolant on the garage floor and they didn’t question it.

I think this has been twice on this car. I just bought it in Aug. I have an 2006 Cayenne with over 100K on it still on its original pump. Why do these fail so often?

We fix about 60 water pumps or more a year and have never seen a pump fail at 12k mi. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

I’ll check on the part number they sold me for the guy who asked about it.
Nice job! Thanks for the pictures!

Update on my water pump replacement.
After picking the car up from the dealer, it promptly sat for about 10 days. When I finally got to drive it, I noted the temp needle moved up to normal temp in about a half mile- about fives times faster then usual. The needle fell back and then it warmed up normally. After arriving home, the cooling fans were spinning, not something I've ever seen in almost 3.5 years. Plus the weather has been cool. Also, the coolant level was at min.
Brought it back Saturday, they added some coolant and got some more air out and pressure tested the system. All seems normal now.

2015 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS - started leaking on and off from the usual location at about 3250 miles.

No coolant added so far. Initial leaks, maybe 1/4 cup. Now just a few drips.
Checked all three E-Torx fasteners - all tight to specification.
Not leaking from the coolant cap.
Not leaking from the expansion tank from what I could see. Is there an overflow hose attached to it?

I'll get around to it next spring when the car is back on the road. Got CPO, but hate dealers messing with my vehicles.
