I haven't chimed in in a while. My2k17 991.2 is now approximately 4 years old and has 24K miles on it. I started getting an error that said "Cooling system fault" Consult a workshop. If I shut the car off and on again, the error went away and wouldn't come back for a few days. I took it to the dealer once and they were not able to duplicate the error. I bought it in a second time and they said there was a small leak in the water pump causing the issue. Luckily this happened before my warranty ran dry. Fingers crossed that this does the trick.

If it's on your service receipts that you reported it, and it still needs fixing, you're covered.

My SA told me the same when I bought it in a few months ago. My warranty is out in June. I think I'm going to need to do some research and look into what things may need replacing before the warranty runs dry. The car overall has been fantastic.

2017 C2, 12/16 build. Took in for spark plug change today and asked them to look at water pump under which I noticed coolant residue recently. They had one in stock and pump is being replaced under warranty tomorrow morning.

2018 Carrera S here. Mine started to leak at 15k km.

I took the car in for a change oil service and the dealer did a check on the car for me for free. They noticed the pump was leaking slightly and offered to replace it for me at no charge. My car was still under warranty so it was expected to be totally free. Took a few days to have the part ordered in, so they just told me to bring the car home after my oil change and take the car back once the new pump arrived. One week later, they called, took the car back in, they did the replacement all for free and sent me home happy.

2016 C2 Reservoir/Overflow tank delaminated at approximately 15K miles which drained every drop of coolant. Porsche towed it and repaired/replaced it under warranty.

Default 2019 991.2 4S water pump failure replaced at 3,000 miles and leaking again at 7,000.

Hi Forum, new member and first time Porsche owner. I bought a 2019 Agate Grey 991.2 Carrera 4S, Sport Chrono, PDK, etc. Took new delivery April 2019, babied it throughout break-in after that, just spirited weekend drives. I smelled that sweet coolant smell during a drive (around 3k miles on the clock in Oct 2019), pulled over and saw the pink fluid dripping from above the pulley. No warnings or temp indications or fluctuations. Proceeded driving straight to the dealer a couple miles away.

Diagnosis was water pump seal failure. Pump and seal replaced Oct 2019. Car ran fine no issues until this week. Coolant smell pulling into garage today (6.5 k miles) and saw the below. Will bring it to the dealer Monday and call PCNA Probably another seal/pump failure. I'm shocked this is happening again especially on a car with this price point ($150k).

Oct 2019 1st instance.

Wow that's terrible! I would be mortified if I saw that happen. Try taking it to a different dealer than the one you originally went to.

I think it’s a part failure, rather than the first dealer at fault. Still disappointing though.

Thanks bmedude. Totally agree WingCommander. After reading all of the posts on this issue (very helpful BTW) I checked my RO invoice and noted that OPB-121-005-A coolant pump was used and not OPB-121-005-C. A thorough search shows that the "005-A" generation has been discontinued and they probably replaced a failing part with the same. I noticed some users had theirs replaced 3-4x and noticed the part numbers were different. Going straight to the dealer Monday morning to resolve.

I had my water pump replaced about 3 weeks ago with OPB-121-005-C, so yes, yours was replaced with the same faulty first generation pump.
