Sorry to hear about your leak, koven. Mine was replaced with C part (2019 4S with PDK/ SportChrono) and it seems that's what most members are getting also. D may not fit yours. Check with your SA or GetPorscheParts or Suncoast websites.

This should not be an issue as this problem is a well known and established and documented defect of water pumps on 991.2 (and 992?) models regardless of "mod" status.

In the Bay Area, Carlsen Porsche in Redwood City declined to replace my water pump twice, apparently because pink and white residue on the pump and the oil line below the pump was insufficient. I was eager to do this repair before tuning. Drove it 15 min to Rector/Burlingame Porsche, pump leaked, they replaced it no questions asked.

I wonder if dealers are disincentivized in some way from performing this work?

Glad you got it fixed. Did your 2019 not have the C originally? I read In some other post that Porsche started using a different pump to fix this sometime in 2018. My 2019 was built in March 2019. I haven’t had a problem yet and hopefully won’t, but I’ll be monitoring.

Mine was a September 2018 build, so I'm guessing it probably slipped through with the A part pump and also replaced with the same failing A part @1st time repair. Hopefully the C prt was the fix.

Checked under the car, and there was a tiny bit of dried coolant. 2017 Carrera, 29,300 miles. Calling Porsche tomorrow. Warranty runs out the end of the month. Would you drive it, or have it towed. Closest dealer is about 20 miles.
Got the car back today. Replaced the water pump and valve block. Water pump #OPB-121-010-D, so it looks like the most current version. 28,900 miles.
The question I have is, my warranty expires in August. Is there a separate warranty on the new part? My SA said that since this is a warranty repair, their is no warranty other than the original warranty. If it was repaired outside of the original warranty, then there would be a 2yr warranty on the new water pump.

If it was me, I’d ask a more senior person in the Porsche Centre - the Service Manager, Parts Manager or Dealership Principal. If they (hopefully) confirm the new parts have their own new 2 year warranty, get that in writing.

The service tech could not even be bothered to clean off the residue?!?!? Come on, man.

Noticed a small pink puddle, maybe 2-3" in diameter, and came here to see if anyone else had an issue like this. 2017 GTS, June production. I hope the dealer stocks these.

Ugh, ralt12, I feel your pain. It's seems many of us (991.2 and now some 992) are plagued with this issue, sad to see. Most of us are getting Part C generation pump as per posts (seems Part A fails). My 2nd replacement was done almost a month ago and no issues (smells, leaks or warning lights) so far so seems part C is the fix (OPB-121-005-C, fingers crossed) however double check part# for your GTS. good luck!

See post #112 above. Looks like there is also a pump version “D”.

Does anyone have the final word on what the latest and greatest version number is?
