Even similar trim cars ( two .2 base, 2 GTSs or Targas) can vary that much in weight simply because of the options picked at build..

Like I said, may be I am missing something
I agree, thus my question. I was surprised to see a T-specific variant on the website! Maybe something to do with RAS or PTV (I don't believe they were options on the standard base)

It would more likely be for spring rate. As in PASM vs Sport PASM.

24/48 Base

33/108 GTS

45/120 GT3/ Touring

100/160. GT3-RS

100/150. 4 Point 0

There is a big difference between “Feeling” sporty and performing better. Some companies under spring and over dampen to give ride comfort but give illusion of sportiness. (AMG comes to mind). Over springing and under dampened is no good either, (People who do HAS kits)

Balanced and tuned is way better.

I tried searching the thread here but couldn't find an answer -- what's the special about the Carrera T calibration? Does it just account for weight reduction (vs a standard 991.2)?

I installed my v3 controller in my T today and love it so far, but I'm wondering what the difference is between that and the standard 991 calibration or the GT3T one.

Thanks!
In case you looked at the Shock Calibration table you'll see that the Carrera T file is softer in Sport mode than GT3 Tour. In Normal mode they're almost the same.
I think the Carrera T file should've been removed as a selection since the GT3 Tour file supersedes all other files for 991 cars and it has been universally well liked by users.
The weight difference doesn't matter for this context of surrounding circumstances.
Having more selections than necessary at this point multiple just creates confusion, IMO. Sorry about that.
Since I am a motorbike enthusiast, my original vision for the cal file library page was borrowed from the idea of a previous version of the Dynojet PowerCommander-3 map library where users can download and try different maps for different motorbike mods and feel which works best on their particular bike. I believe now that this approach isn't ideal for this application. Actually, even Dynojet got rid of this approach over the years...
For the most part, my experience has been that for this application users just want one "standard" cal file that is versatile and works great. Which is the GT3 Tour file(for OEM dampers).
The site admin will clean up the page to reduce confusion.

This statement alone should help clear up confusion for anyone new to the DSC+!

Awesome man, thanks for the clarification. I'll switch over to the GT3T calibration soon. Cheers!

Ok. I know it’s probably been discussed and I’m probably a little dense on this subject but here goes anyway……

991.1 C2S manual Stock suspension

I know the DSC doesn’t automatically activate the PASM button in Sport Plus and that leads me to my question-

there are effectively 6 modes:

-Normal
-Normal w/PASM manually activated (button on)
-Sport
-Sport w/PASM manually activated (button on)
-Sport Plus
-Sport Plus w PASM manually activated (button on)

Am I wrong on this?
what seems to be the crowd favorite—. Prior to the install I favored straight Sport.

I just installed it and will be playing this week

thanks

No, you're right - sort of. The DSC disassociates PASM settings from the Normal / Sport / Sport+ settings such that PASM on / off no longer changes with the Normal / Sport / Sport+ progression. It also doesn't "forget" what PASM mode was selected on a restart - if PASM was on when you shut it down it will be on when you start it up.

I can't speak for the crowd as to their "favorite" - only my favorite - which is PASM on all the time unless I find a really bumpy road in which case I might switch DSC PASM to normal. As to the other settings I let the car warm up in Normal and then usually switch to Sport, so my "go-to" is Sport with DSC PASM on. I take advantage of the fact that the DSC profiles (in general) feel softer than "factory" to start with and get firmer than factory as you start pushing the car harder (this really over-simplifies the very sophisticated way that DSC manages suspension functions). In my view, Porsche has built a suspension system with a lot of sensors and then dumbed down the controller - DCS has built a very smart and sophisticated controller that exploits the suspension capabilities. It transforms the car.

Hi @Tom@TPC Racing
I try to install the new RS file but when I connected DSC on my laptop, I keep getting an error message "No Port could be found" when I try to reset board or hit the serial setting. I downloaded software (1.95) again and installed as an admin but I get same error message. Can you please help me so I can enjoy the new RS file? Thanks,

Please go to the DSC Support Page, refer to the text description on this page, disregard the video because the video was made 6 years ago but the text is recent and relevant to current microsoft updates. Link to support page-
https://www.dscsport.com/support-vid...-ee8976f2-d4dd

Most likely the newest microsoft update enhanced the secure setting so much that it blocks the USB driver.

@Tom@TPC Racing
Thanks. it worked. I just downloaded and open new RS file and "write all" but just wanted to check the firmware for my 991.2 GTS DSC V3 and what was showing was kind of confusing:

"v
Ver 992 2.0 V3 8_25_19 enc RHpwm Bmp Lnc SunRf level RH
*65535*"

I have 991.2 but how come it shows 992? and mine seems like 8/25/19 date, can I still use RS file or need to download Tour file?
My DSC hardware had sharpie hand written "991.2 GTS4 1-14-20" on it.

The new RS file is for 2021-up controllers as stated on the download page. This was also stated in another thread. Your controller is pre-2021 so you should be using files that have 2020 date on them.

Thanks for quick reply.
I wanted to try out new RS file but it looks like I just have to be happy with GT3 tour file for now. Thanks again for all your help.

Tom - is there any reason to zero ride height on a car that hasn’t been lowered? Also, can the usb cable stay plugged in for convenience?
