You don't have to if you don't want to spend the time. Personally I prefer to do it for every in-house installation to be thorough. My reasons: the stock suspension can settle a small amount over the years to the weight of the car and the stock controller doesn't have suspension travel velocity tuning via ride height sensor data so I prefer to be thorough in that regard. Yes you can leave the cable attached as most of my recent youtube videos suggest as such.

Refer to the date on the side of the device or refer to DSC Support Videos - https://www.dscsport.com/support-vid...-4ff06923-605f

Thank you, Roketman! It means a lot coming from an experienced GT3 Cup racer.

Thanks Tom. And having driven with V3 for the last 10 days, I agree that it’s a terrific device. These days it’s rare that a product actually performs the way it’s advertised, but this does, and then some.

The advantage of the DSC really becomes apparent when you put back the stock controller in the car. When I store the car i take the DSC out and keep it at home. The drive to the storage facility is not as comfortable.

Curious why you would do this? It's not that it's hard, but I wouldn't call it "fun" to pull up the carpet, wiggle those connectors out, all while cramped in the back seat. Why not leave it in all the time?

It's an easy job, take 3 minutes and then I can play with it during winter time. Plug it to the computer and can explore the tables and compare between files. Then decide what I want to try next summer, maybe make a few new files.
Gotta find something to do for the Porsche during these long winter months.

I too was initially wondering why you would remove it for storage, but that makes sense!

Is it safe to connect to the DSC with the USB cable while plugged into the car? I've always disconnected it since I'd rather be safe than sorry, but does anyone know for sure? It would be neat to drop a Raspberry Pi back in there, should run Windows well enough just for the tool, remote into it so you could tweak it easily.

I often connect to the DSC while it's in the car and even with the car running. I've got an USB cable always plugged in to the DSC and tucked away under the carpet.
And it's the only way you can Zero out the ride height sensors. And sometimes, while driving a mountain road, i'll park by the side and change the map to the DSC's Sport map.
On the drives I know I'll try out another map I carry along a laptop.
Having a Pi connected to the DSC would be a lot more convenient.

Maybe, depends on the use case. I was thinking of just at home, where it could connect over wifi, so you could tweak it from the comfort of wherever you do your normal computer work by remoting into it. But if you are out somewhere, directly connecting with a laptop seems ideal since you want the screen/keyboard anyway. So you just have a longer USB cable permanently connected, run it up to the front seat so you can tweak it that way? I might do that for now.

With an iPad and Teamviewer you could connect over WiFi to the Pi and adjust tables or load different files while anywhere on the road.
BUT, it all depends on; could the DSC windows program and Teamviewer work on the Pi under a Lite version of Windows. And, can the DSC windows USB driver work on the Pi?
And to think DSC had an iPhone app a while back, if I'm not mistaken!
Saw on youtube, an App for a JRZ suspension. You can adjust different parameters from your iPhone!

Does the DSC Sport V3 have any competitors?
