Well friends, there's one less T on the road this morning. Today is a sad day.
Driving home from work last night, I was going a moderate pace in a right turn lane, with two lanes of stopped traffic to my left. A Nissan Rogue (I think) traveling in the opposite direction turned to their left across the three lanes to enter a small side-street at an unmarked intersection. They cleared way through the stopped lanes of traffic but neglected to check the third lane and accelerated into me as I was crossing... there was barely enough time to hit the brakes. They struck my driver's side front quarter panel and door, launched my car to the right into a curb and then a light post, and then came to a rest back in the lane. It was over in an instant. Steam was pouring out of the front right radiator, coolant was leaking everywhere, the front driver's side suspension had collapsed, the driver's side body work was mostly crumpled, the driver's side rear wheel was chunked, and the front bumper took major impact to the curb and light post but looked surprisingly intact. I'm astonished the airbags didn't deploy. My driver's side door wouldn't open so I dragged myself out of the carbon bucket seat through the passenger side only to find the other driver had sped off and left their front bumper (but no plate) as a souvenir. Lucky me.
Fortunately I'm unharmed and that's really what's most important. The car took the impact beautifully. Through no technical skill of my own, it spared me of any obvious injury and just sort of pinballed around and absorbed inertia. Until its final moments, it was nothing short of epic.
It's hard to know whether insurance will want to fix it or pay out. As much as I loved the car, I have a hard time believing it would ever be the same, so I'm strangely hopeful it's a total loss. Which is massively depressing. This is a car I thought I would have for 20-30 years and several hundred thousand miles. In nearly three years of ownership we had already racked up ~25,000 miles together. Glorious, spiritual, miles.
This morning I'm finding myself grateful to have had time with this beautiful machine. It brought so much joy to my life. But now it's time to turn the page, pull the aftermarket bits off, and look for the next.
Here's some pics. Sorry its so dirty I had been meaning to wash it for a month or two.
Oh man... breaks my heart to see those pics. So very glad that you are ok and that it wasn't worse. I really hope the person that did this to you is somehow found and is held accountable for their actions. I know that is no compensation to you, but maybe that will prevent them from doing this again and actually injuring someone. Imagine if you had a child in your car...
Sorry for your loss, but also happy to see you are keeping it in perspective.

There was truck behind me that may have dashcam footage... He was nice enough to stop and share contact info. Sadly, I'm not sure Denver puts much effort into finding these bad actors. 911 told me I'd have to wait in excess of 2-hours for a patrol car after this hit and run. SMH.
Just got my T with just the essentials. MT, rear axle steer, sport tec in GT Silver. On the drive home a blue GT3 roared up out of nowhere to play a little game of tag. Definitely a sign!

Really sorry to hear about this, Jeahbladejeah. But by far the most important thing is that you’re ok. At the end of the day, even though we love our cars, they are metal, glass, rubber & plastic and can be replaced, unlike us.

Really sorry to hear this!!! Good Luck with the dashcam… hope it helps. Worse than anything is dealing with insurance companies. For how much we pay them every year, they are all “like a good neighbor” (my insurance company’s jingle) until you need them.
According to Stuttcars from 2018-2019 Porsche built 70,373 911's in total and only 1,043 of them were 911t's that went to North America. And apparently there were 9,500 991.2 GT3's and 4,880 GT3 RS built.
