Here you go, I took a picture for you which makes it easier to explain. This shows a nav app on the left and YT Music on the right. You can control each app in the normal way.
You have to open both the apps you want to use side-by-side, then click the little icon circled in yellow. The drag the first app you want to the side and then repeat for the second app.

Ah - no. That info comes from the PCM, which of course will now be in a box in your garage You still get the 'vital' gauges, trip, TPMS if you have it. But not the audio or phone or maps info.

My GT4 had CDR31... so I didn't have that feature either... not even able to connect my phone with bluetooth for music/navigation, only calls... completely useless... very happy it is in the garage now ...even with bright screens and warning lights on the dash

Haha. I know what you mean. Amazing how these inexpensive Android HUs bring the car up-to-date. Even with their faults!

CarPlay added flawlessly
In Atlanta Ga, guy designed and installs his own version. Its flawless and allows OEM PSM to function as original equipment. See FB details. Rules prevent me from advertising his capabilities. He is as no other. Further Porsche North America is aware of his solution and extremely impressed due to his workmanship, Camera selection , overall quality and installation being meticulous. I own and have his solution installed. Be careful whose aftermarket solution you install, especially the cameras.

Looks like Erisin are quitting on this. They don't seem willing to do anything else.
Can someone who has the brightness issue send me a video of the very bright screens? I will try to record and edit a youtube video to upload so people know not to buy.

hello,
about this lights, you need to unlock the system in garage, then the problem can be solved.

What does their reply even mean? Do they mean that it needs coding at Porsche? That is nonsense. The fault lies with their canbus solution. It's very disappointing that they have given up. I can't send you a video as the only thing affected in mine is the huge beam light. I think your suggestion is a good one though and maybe Andy can oblige. Maybe when there is a YT video someone will step up with a solution.

I feel like this troubleshooting could/should be it's own thread.
It also makes me happy I stuck with the NM automotive unit instead of trying one of these others, even though these newer units offer more features. If I had more time on my hands ... maybe...but I assumed any support would be hit and miss. Mostly miss. Whereas NM's support has been golden.
I hope you all get some resolution, but the current state wasn't hard to predict.

Nick at NM Auto is a pleasure to deal with and I have bought from him before (not a Carplay/Android Auto solution though). The Isudar-style solution is pretty reliable once one has managed to install the ribbon cables properly and although mine was without fault, there have been various problems reported on the dedicated thread.
Essentially, we have two very different solutions here - the retention of the PCM, with its drawbacks, and a tricky installation of the add-on board, and/or the updating of the HU with a more modern display. The latter is an easier installation, but unfortunately, it is plagued with this one issue of the 'bright panel lights'. Other than that, there are no issues that I am aware of that have not been caused by user error. I still think that either of these solutions is an upgrade to the older Porsches so you pays your money and takes your choice as the showman said.
I hope that the guys for whom the panel lights thing is a problem find a resolution. It is a great shame that what seems to be a fairly trivial problem to solve is proving impossible for the sellers of the unit. There are other units, of course, that have a slightly different style, come with different software and firmware, and may be OK. Then again, they may have their own set of issues. I guess this is what happens when people modify their cars. My Porsche Indie loved the wide screen unit in my Panamera but he did make the comment that I was "on my own" if anything went wrong with it or it caused any issues with the car. Fortunately, it hasn't. I kept my PCM, resisting the temptation to sell it for good money, so that I can, if I want to, put the car back to factory, eg when I come to sell it.
