What did you do to your 991 turbo today?

For those that came from the 996 Mezger Turbo world, it's always deja-vu working on the 991. The basic design for so many things is eerily identical, but virtually every individual part is different.
In the case of the boost hoses, what used to be three different parts that could be replaced separately (boost hose, retaining clips, 0-rings) is now a single part and the clips are captive.
Video of how much play that boost hose had before I replaced it and after:

I had a bit of oil in the hose... It was much less of a concern than the likely boost leak that was there, and actually it was the residual oil weeping out that led me to look more closely at that hose..

Time for some catch cans, perhaps.

I'm not sure if this is the "official" technique, but I used 2 medium-small flat blade screwdrivers inserted and slightly levered at the blue arrows which releases all three of the red clip areas. The hose will simply -push- on and automatically move the clips out of the way, but you have to push fairly hard to make sure they are fully seated and locked or they will blow off the first time you hit bigger boost.

I think a small amount of oil accumulation inside the boost hose is normal, a bit of turbo oil blow-by. But unless you have a slightly bad seal in the boost hose, it's not visible. Out of sight, out of mind ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I don't think a catch can will do anything for this, as catch cans usually catch crankcase oil blow-by which I think gets fed back into the intake track well downstream of the turbos...
Edit:
I was just reading on another (Audi) forum about a similar issue and the speculation that it *might* be downstream crankcase/PVC/AOS blow-by that gradually runs down backwards to the low point in the boost hose, in which case catch cans might help!

What IC's did you go with and who's tune? As I recall he was selling EVOM's tunes?
LOL, I'm pretty certain that would be Sharkwerks exhaust.

I went with the Sharkwerks exhaust and Evoms tune. CSF intercoolers in custom black finish. Alex has been a good friend for close to 20 years. He would divorce me if I used anything else!
Oh and I just started using Instagram. @Rrf sjb. Alex posted a pic of my car so you can find me there.
