I was down at the dealer today getting a FOB programmed to the 996 and my service guy advised that there was an 'emissions software update' coming for the 991.1/2... has anyone else heard this, or had new software updated by the dealer?

An 'emissions' update does not sound good for performance...

Could be part of the Sport Chrono stop sale, I haven't heard anything definitive though. I didn't think that applied to the 991 Turbo/S, but could be wrong.

I thought the sport chrono thing was only up to 991.1...

I don't recall seeing the 991.1 or 991.2 Turbo's on the list, but it's been a while since I've followed that. It would definitely be a emissions software update though. Maybe the dealer was confused as I haven't heard anything about this applying to the Turbo's.

Yeah, I suspect it is the DFI engine emission compliance issue that they have been having on 911 Sport Chrono cars, but think (hope?) he is mistaken about it applying to the 3.8L Turbos.

But, why? If the cars were compliant when they came to NA, they were compliant for their year. It seems somewhat backwards to kill more power.

They aren't touching mine with some "update" unless is proven to "HELP" the car and have zero negatives.
