What did you do to your 991 turbo today?
#3046
I'd love to upgrade the steering wheel on my 991.1 TTS. What all did you have to buy? Just the steering wheel and airbag? Or did you have to buy an adapter for all the buttons to work?

Just the wheel and the airbag. If you have multi function you can buy the adapter also, the cheapest part of the combo

Another day of doing nothing.
Still 100% stock.
I am contemplating the orange side markers but the conversion to clear looks extremely complicated and risky as one must touch the car to get it done.

I figured some white mechanic gloves would help, but it was still very risky.

Before you do that, make sure you put it in a vacuum sealed bag - pretty sure the museum will not touch it otherwise.

Admittedly, I have been a somewhat of a ***** to it as of late as my attention (and resources) have been focused on sorting the 996.
This afternoon, that changed - I had a look at it, covered (again) by crap from every single bird in SW BC, and thought to myself, you need a little cleaning, and a drive, which clearly made it happy.
And with a little luck, it'll stay that way.

One of my driving buddies had his 991 Turbo S just for added relevancy.

Paul, you have nice looking friends.
I've been working on the 996 for about three years now in an effort to restore it to its former glory. Now, equipped with new gearbox, cables, ICs, console, wheels, tyres and of course, tuning by Sam - I am loving it - the CMS box is divine and so much smoother than the OEM unit, but not nearly as quick as the PDK. The only things remaining to deal with are a leaky turbo (Sam has what I need...), the door panels and the remainder of the body work.
This is main contributing factor as to why I have decided to extend the factory warranty on the 991 for at least another 2 years - the 996 still requires some significant coin to be 'finished', so other than maybe equipping the 991 with an exhaust and perhaps some ICs, I won't get into serious mods until I have finished the 996 project.
Shifting gears manually is really awesome.

Killed the right side stock wheels and tires on the road edge last week, so decided it would be a great opportunity to upgrade. Ordered some HRE R101 Lightweights in Frozen Dark Clear with Michelin PS4S tires from David @ wheels boutique. Not my car in the picture, but the same wheel. Now the long wait begins..
