What did you do to your 991 turbo today?

I've done that on a diesel running 50lbs of boost. Plastic bits blow up, not surprisingly, when the boost gets cranked...
And if memory serves, your boost is cranked...
Glad you found it!

50 lb + failure, side of the highway bush fix, no shoulder, pulling a trailer....
And, of course, I cannot find the pic to prove it.

Yup, very common to blow apart at the seams. Let me know if you need a Y pipe, I can hook you up

Not today, but I installed these awesome, cheap ebay carbon fiber paddles. Excellent quality and finish. Nice extension. Paid only $150 shipped, honestly wouldn't be happier with DB carbon or other expensive options.
These are the full actual paddles, not the stick on extensions.

If this a a "common" thing, I'm surprised we've not seen it posted here more.
However, now that I had it happen, it might give food for thought on others to proactively change to a better piece prior to this happening out somewhere and leaving guys stranded
(unless of course they chance driving it home with unfiltered air.

Install was a breeze. Steering wheel removal *can* be a little sketchy since you're removing the airbag, however my brother has mastered that as he's swapped out many. Didn't remove negative terminal from battery. Also used the same bolt instead of buying a new one as suggested.
There are a few small little screws you must remove to get the paddles out once the wheel is removed. Super easy and straight forward. Instead of a punch I used a petite screwdriver to push out a pin.
All in all it was one of the more fun installs I've done. Especially coming off some cat bypass pipes I did before.
Torque specs are different form .1 to .2 for some reason. The .1 specs are published online and easy to find, had to dig around to find the .2 torque spec.

The steering wheel and paddles are completely different on .1 and .2. The .2 is much more modular and allows replacing different components and the inserts. The .1 steering wheel doesn't really come apart. I think you'll be limited to the stick-on paddle extensions on the .1 wheel.
