I was going to buy the Joye Auto unit, but then I stumbled across a post about the NM Automotive box. The NM box is more expensive than the JoyeAuto, but has the following advantages:
-NM has wireless android auto, JA does not.
-JoyeAuto is not as well integrated with the OEM functions, particularly the front parking sensors (not sure about this, stated by the guy I spoke with at NM)
-JoyeAuto requires a dummy plug in the AUX input socket, NM does not.
-JoyeAuto needs a separate power cable connected to an ‘ACC’ fuse in the driver/passenger side fuse box. NM does not need this.
-NM has very responsive, native english speaking customer support.
-NM promises future support (firmware updates as needed). I already experienced this. Between the time I purchased the unit and installed it, I received an email from NM stating some of the recent units has an issue with not shutting down after the ignition was keyed off, but they had a firmware update for affected units. After installing mine, I noticed it was not shutting down. I emailed them Sunday 8:30pm EST (1:30AM their time in the UK), and recieved an email with the updated firmware less than 8 hours later (9:30am Monday morning in the UK). They were also very responsive repurchase. I had a few questions prepurchase, and they were very quick to respond to those as well.

NM also provided a very detailed (annotated photos of every step) step by step PDF manual with the purchase. I used the PDF from NM on a tablet while doing the install. I found it much easier than trying to follow a video.
Thanks!!

I'm very pleased with how my budget rear seat delete turned out. $1100 all in, rather than Suncoast kit for $2650. The GT3 insignia is blacked out and actually harder to see than in this brightly lit picture. I can trim the threads out if it bugs me.

Very nice job - you can also think you have a GT3 from time to time . How much weight does it save? Is that why you did this mod?

Weight savings would be minimal, at most 10 lbs. My motivation was mostly aesthetic. There are no small children in my life, and to my eye, it looks much sportier to present the car as a two-seater. On the practical side, I do long road trips, some with camping gear. With this mod, I've got a bit more storage room, and no risk of scuffing up the leather seats, which I'll re-install if/when time to sell.

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-turb...loss-plan.html

If you pull all of the surrounding bits, it will drop 16lbs...but the belts are a PITA to pull.

If you look at post number 82 in there "what did you do" thread, you will see where my wife steamed out the GT3 letters on a rear seat delete for reference.

I took a nice shortcut on the rear belts. They were easy to detach from the lower end. Then I just rolled them up and tucked them behind the interior piece where they attach up top, didn't even have to remove the interior piece or the belts.

I recalled that you had removed the letters. I wish it would be that easy for me, but on the piece I got, the GT3 is not a fabric patch with adhesive, it is all stitched right into and through the carpet. And the back side is covered up with other materials. So the only way to remove that I can see, is to snip individual threads from the front side and then extract with tweezers. Took me 15 minutes to do about 1/4", so I bailed.

Nice... I've done the rear seat delete on my 996 Turbo, would like to do it on the 991 Turbo as well one of these days... You'll have to get me the part numbers you used.

I wonder if you can get the carpet piece with GT2 embossed instead without paying triple? It would be a bit more fitting on the turbo.

Also, it's kind of remarkable just how much the front seat weight, and how little the rear seats weigh! The fronts are absolute porkers and the rear delete saves almost nothing.

I'd really love to put the 991 GT2 front seats in, and the cost is actually not as ridiculous as you might think, but I'm just not sure about the semi-daily usability and comfort of them. But for weight savings, track day, and just looking completely bad-***, two thumbs up!

Can you please share where you got that so "cheaply"? Found it used? Looks great!

Differences? Nothing really. I just like it better than the standard PDK shifter I had and it has some Alcantara to match my new wheel. I also got a great price on it, so I couldn't resist.

Yep, per PFBZ below, I have a COBB PDK tune so the shifter now matches (Forward = Downshift, Back = Upshift) but the trim is backwards. Doesn't matter to me, never look at that anyhow.

@MotoJB,confirm for us though...

Other than the .2 wheel and new airbag, no other parts and no PIWIS coding needed to do the steering wheel swap? Assuming non-MF to non-MF of course.

Hey, no other parts and no coding needed. Simple plug and play for non-MF wheel. Just make sure to unplug the negative battery cable and let it sit for 15 min before you proceed.

Indeed, "cheaply" is a relative term here, lol. There is this seat-delete thread from 2016 in which the main bench piece was available new from Porsche for $529. Now Suncoast needs $2300 for just that one part! I got mine used off E-bay, came from Poland without a hitch. Search "991 rear seat delete" on Ebay, looks like there are currently four different ones. Most of them have notches cut out for roll-bars, look at pics closely to see if this detail is acceptable.

I've been way up north for the last 2 and a bit weeks - clearly the continual sub zero temperatures have affected my brain.
