It's conceivable that, due to weight savings, a 2-seat GT 911 may be missing important structural components that exist in a 4-seat 911 so it can pass crash-rating certifications for passengers in the rear. The 2-seat GT would not need to satisfy those. Just something to consider.

In typical RL fashion this thread has been taken OT by the entrance of a self-centered, self-entitled, affluensa afflicted youngster who read a minority report on the internet that met his desires while not caring that applicability due to different model reference doesn't exist. With all the real world experience, which doesn't agree with his point of view, of established members his character afflictions do not allow him to rescind and therefore he continues down the path of fruition.

P.S.
If its on the internet it must be true.

Conceivable, yes.
I don't think so, however, since we have not read anything about structural changes to the frame to save weight. Have we?

I'm not even going to reply to ExMB; waste of time.

Let's get back to the OP. I promise you I will show you rear seats properly installed in my 991.2 GT3!

For some reason, I'm imagining it coming out looking something like the front passenger seat in the opening scenes of Deathproof. And passengers faring similarly in the event of a crash...

Guys, find the 'Post Topic' button and discuss it elsewhere.

I think it's a great idea to do it to a 997 GT3. I've debated going that path myself.

Where we think you are crazy is how you interchange 991 GT3 and 997 GT3.

Again, you can permanently make me drop it if you can produce an estimate in writing to have this done to a 991.1 GT3 from any official Porsche dealer or service center. The fact you cannot get this document should be a HUGE red flag as to why you should not attempt this.

Just to respond to this, since we are being asked to discuss this elsewhere:
Interchanging 991 and 997 is not a big leap, because I know how difficult and time consuming it is to engineer and validate seat belts. So there will only be minor differences between the series when it comes to rear seat belts.

Another point: having worked and consulted in dozens of car plants, just because something is welded, doesn't make it perfect. I watched a recent 991 assembly video, and the body in white welds were checked visually, by a human. Personally, I would rather have the seat brackets inspected by me, and have the seat belt mounts also directly verified by me, rather than relying on the car plant getting it right. This is likely just because I worked for some of the best car plants in the world, and none are perfect.

I absolutely will post all photos and the written work from the shop when I have it done to my 991.2!

But if they just offer a Touring option, we can all really put this discussion to bed!

Yes, but you can retrofit it to make it complimentary, as in "unretarded" and you can buy insurance for it too.

Win, win!
