I think where you go makes a big difference.
Demand for cars vs Supply (allocation) is not linear.
A smaller city may have greater supply, as a proportion of demand.

If you notify your insurers that you have added rear seats and belts, and they are satisfied, then the job's done. That's was the procedure with the 997 GT3.

Again, thats a 997 and NOT a 991. Lets stay on topic with this mod as well as country specific.

ExMB, there is not much difference in how the seats and belts mount between the 997 and 991. If it can be done on the 997, it can surely be done on the 991.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what's the point in flaming someone with an opposing view?
We are all on this forum because we are waiting to get our GT3s, and this particular thread is about rear seats.
There's enough BS in the world... let's just be a little nicer!

This is not a subjective topic. There is a significant difference between the 997 and 991--the frame lacks the points you attach the seats and belts to on the 991 GT3.
Of course it can be done on the 997. But it will be much much more difficult on the 991 GT3.
I will retract my statements saying you cannot if you can produce a quote from a Porsche dealer in writing (with the contact info for the dealer clearly visible) stating they will add the rear seats to a 991.1 GT3.
It will be interesting to see how/if they add seats to the 991.2 as an option, if all will have the mount points or if there will be differences in the frame from the factory.

The frame is no different than any other 911.
The brackets that were not installed, can be installed.
Perhaps not all dealers, but some will do the work, because they are just small businesses who are eager to make a profit.
They will likely say that they have no liability in case of an accident. But as was mentioned a few posts above, you can get it insured. This is no different than the 997 GT3s.

You do not at all "know" I am wrong, because no one has done it yet.

Which part of the criticism you received don't you understand? You want everybody to back off but you refuse to admit that you were wrong. You continue on your self-centered way by trying to deflect and ask for everybody to be nice. Change starts at home before you can expect the rest of the world to follow.

Funny, but it's not at all like turning a bike into a sub!
Read through the thread I posted above in its entirety; here it is again:
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...ed-pics-7.html
The same belts mount in the 991 - automakers do not change seat belt designs often, due to the cost and certification time. I bet the same part #s for the belts are used in the 997 and 991. Recall that the seat back brackets were not in the 997, but that the 996 uses the same brackets. There was no need to make them; they came off of 996 cars.
There are really two things to do:
1) seat bottoms and the 3-point seat-belt installation -- if you just want to mount child seats, then this is all you need
2) seat-back mounting bracket -- this bracket was welded onto the 997; but the same one was used on the 996. You can buy them from salvage yards/dismantlers; or you can get them made.
The bolt holes for the belts should be in the body. They were just covered with plugs in the 997 GT3. The 997.2 had less metal in the central tunnel, so it was missing the bolts on that side. But as indicated in that thread, there are 997.2 cars that have 4 seats!
I will search for images of the 991.2 GT3 without the rear carpet; but not sure if any exist yet.

You don't get it do you? First you state it has been done, than you point to a 997 and now you say an attempt will be made.

It's the same principal, Bro. Automakers rarely change this because of the time and cost to re-cert.

As I said: it CAN be done, because it WAS done on the 997 (and earlier) GT3s. The concept is exactly same.
No one has put forth any facts that prove it cannot be done.
(ExMB, are you so negative in your professional life? Yikes...)

I thought this thread could not become less informative or even entertaining but I was clearly wrong.
