Been offline and out of town unexpectedly for couple of days. Will check with sources on Monday.

It used to be, if you want unique mods you did it aftermarket. Now like everything else, we want it given to us. The company wants that $$$. And we ask why we are being dragged around by so called stearlerships. Now they monopolize the "yeyo" drug.

Did he say what was included/excluded in that option?

So true. Even more so, we want the options to be on the window sticker, as they have more validity from the factory than mods we do ourselves. Reversal of values from generations ago when human work and ingenuity applied to customize a product was more valued.

Nope, not beyond wing delete.

Logically if you call it a Touring package, and you delete the wing, you would add back the rear seats, heighten the suspension 5-10mm, only offer "sofa" seating, and disallow the club sport package and LWBs. But logic may have little or nothing to do with it.

If Porsche doesn't allow buckets on the Touring version, I'm not sure I'll be interested. But it could be a nod to the 911R VIPs who have them. I just want the 911 w/the 4.0, buckets, manual and no wing.

Agree that makes sense. They're not going to give you no wing and everything else exactly the same as the GT3.
Only sofas, no LWB, no CS, 10mm higher ride height, rear seat option, all would be logical both to further differentiate it from GT3, and appeal to previous GTS types who really just want a wingless manual, NA, 911.

I wonder if they will offer any of the "soft" 911 options like sunroof, roof rack attachment points, adaptive cruise control, etc.

That would be like a GTS .... except the engine (turbo / NA). Maybe Porsche wants to test its customers as to whether they will prefer the GTS over the soft GT3 so in future (like the 992 GT3) they know whether they should continue using or scrap the NA engine.

I'm going to ring my dealership tomorrow and ask to be notified if when the touring package becomes available. I'll trade up to it if I can.

I think the way you look at these cars in North America and rest of world is quite different since you don't get the "clubsport" package.

Over here all the GT3s would be considered touring spec cars (even if they have LWB) unless they have the no cost optional clubsport package (half cage, driver harness, fire extinguisher etc.)

To us in the ROW, the US cars are all already touring spec regardless of what seats they have.

I'd love to see a rear seat option but I fear for the US market that would be a big enough change to need additional crash testing, which usually kills it for low volume vehicles.

I wouldn't be surprised if rear seats are available in some countries but not others. Also not surprised if not available at all.

I think you're probably correct that at least for US, we likely won't get a rear seat option due to DOT and our damn lawyers.

Still I have some friends that would love to daily drive a wingless, NA, GT3, even without rear seats.

Wondering if the softer GT3 will be easier to get than the hardcore one? Shorter waiting line at least, hopefully.
