If i were to do PTS my choice would be Oak Green metallic followed probably by slate grey non metallic.

For standard colors i would do black. For metallic colors graphite blue or agate grey.

For special colors chalk and possibly i €™d consider carmine. I know it is a conservative red but still it is red.

My point is for the rest of my exterior build would be exactly the same no matter what color i select from the above. I like the contrast against the standard touring package, i like the contrast with the standard lights and the contrast with the standard finish for the wheels.

I changed mine from black with chrome to GT silver with black touring. My Macan Turbo is spec'd black with chrome trim and I like it but can't say I love it and I just washed it this past weekend and remembered how much black shows scratches and swirls...its just too hard to maintain. GT silver always looks clean..

Default They just came right out and said it....

http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-shows/los-angeles-auto-show/a14012183/porsche-911-gt3-touring-package-crazy-911-r-prices/?src=nl&mag=rdt&list=nl_rdt_news&date=120517

They are building the Touring, to bring down the 911R prices.. from the horse's mouth:

At the LA Auto Show last week, Achleitner told us that the Touring Package was created partially in response to the R's ever-inflating price. It turns out that Porsche wasn't too pleased with those selling 911 Rs for many multiples greater than its original $185,000 asking price.

"We did not expect this, let me say, crazy reaction concerning used car prices," Achleitner told us. "Because some people are making only money with the car. We don't like that.

"If [the GT3 Touring Package] helps keep the prices a little bit lower for the average customer of our cars, it's better," he added. "Of course, there are some specific customers who are a little bit disappointed, but it's ok, we can live with this."

and if that isn't enough.. he says the 911T is better than the 911R.. i'm thinking there may be a reprimand from corporate for that level of candid talk no???

Regarding the 911T, "This is not a collector's car. This is a car to drive," Achleitner said. He noted that the launch photos for the T feature a dusty car on mountain roads. It's not a car for sitting in the garage, and for him, it's better than a 911 R.

"If I had a 911 R, I would keep it in the garage because I wouldn't have the courage to drive it," he said. "Everybody has a look at this car and says, 'Oh this is €400,000, don't touch it,' or something like this.

"So, I would be more happy with a 911 T."

Shots fired!!!

I will likely never own an R but honestly I still see the allure of it, even with the Touring Package being released on the new 4.0 motor. The stripes, houndstooth, brown leather, gauges.... Something about the package works really well with the .1 front bumper, more so than the .2 IMO...I am a sucker for the R's marketing, whether prices drop or stay the same

But I would guess that all parties are happy except for the flippers: the people who have Rs are happy they get some breathing room to enjoy their awesome car with the frenzied fan base getting their own R-like GT3, and the people who couldn't get the R can get something very close

My understanding from conversations with folks in Atlanta is that the Touring is to increase supply for those of us who wanted the 911R for what it is, rather than decrease demand for those who wanted the 911R for its 'investment' potential.

I don't think he said it was better, just that it's more likely to get driven due to the cost difference. Of course, the T is priced like an everyday driver, not a museum piece.

Agreed. While I can't wait to get my hands on my Touring, if Porsche offered me a 911R at the same price, I'd swap it for the R in a heartbeat.

^ Not me. MSRP to MSRP, I would take the newer engine and (IMO) improved looks, skip the CF/Mg pieces and pepita, and save $40k. Every day of the week.

Well, I think the 911R is much better looking than the Touring, so that's a big reason I'd prefer it, as is the more streetable suspension. The interior bits are just icing on the cake. As a street car, I'd prefer the 911R, again if the price was equal.
