Drove a friend's 675lt spider for a month and here are couple of thoughts to share (all subjective of course):
1. it feels light, compared to 3rs/2rs, it feels nimble especially in turns, this a huge plus in my book
2. acceleration felt quicker than 2rs (2rs might be quick in reality) due to 675lt boost coming on later and more abruptly
3. can't see anything to the rear with the wing in active mode
4. brake feel is better on RS
5. doors opening up takes so much room to clear, horrible in parking garage
6. definitely want one
there are couple of very unique things, for one my foot has very limited room next to the brake pedal when cruising. The entire interior feels much smaller, and it is smaller, I am not claustrophobic but being able to touch the passenger side door panel is something of a shock when you are seated in the driver's seat. Maybe it's the trefo r, maybe it is the way the brakes are setup, braking isn't exactly confidence inspiring compared to RS. Perhaps it's due to the difference in mechanical grip in the front, it feels not as stable as RS, but 675lt's chassis is very unique and I cannot use precise words to describe, but it feels bouncy even in normal mode so kudos to Porsche for tuning our suspension so well. And if anyone is sensitive to noise, due to carbonfiber monoque basically amplifies all the road pebbles and exhaust vibrations through the entire cabin, so in this sense, it might give a false sense of poor build quality. Overall 675lt is a fun weekend car.
The braking takes some getting used to.. the rear end gets light for sure. At Sonoma, going up the drag strip.. near the end you're approachign 140 or so... when you stand on the brakes... that rear end starts to move and steering input is needing to keep it from going sideways. But in part, that's the mid engined nature of the car and partly why it's fun to trail brake it into a turn and let it pivot some - which is does precisely. Of all the cars I've driven on track the 675LT is far and away my favorite. Not as fast as other cars in absolute terms - but engaging, raw, and slightly perspiration inducing - which is what I want in a car.
Comparing my GT3's to my 570S, I have exactly the same sentiments.
The front end of the Mecca is so keen to turn-in, much better than even the 991.2 3RS, but hoping the 992's double wishbone will fix that.
I had a tune on the 570S and yes it was much faster than the 3RS.
Porsche's brake feel is the best, had PCCB on the RS, PCCB on the '18 GT3, irons on the Touring, and smaller irons on the '19 Carrera T. The PCCB's really do feel better than the irons. Hate the brake feel on the Mecca, and when stopped, I had to consciously press hard on the brake pedal, otherwise the car would creep forward. Never have that happen to me on any other cars w/ power brakes. This is the worse part of the Macca.
So 992 GT3 or 675LT or 720S used????
My recommendation would be the 675LT. Possible the best car McLaren has produced post the F1.
For me, the firm and progressive brake pedal feel, and overall modulation, of the 675LT brakes are about the best I’ve used. Definitely on par with my GT2RS, if not a tad better. I’ve had 2 experienced track friends drive the cars back to back and they agreed.
I've never really understood the criticism of brake feel in the Mac, but I guess it's just that I like a firmer pedal than most. I love the feel of the 570S and 720S...just drove an SF90 and the brake pedal was way too touchy and light.
Actually a 765LT, and $200k is of course a joke. Wonder what happened? What a mess.
This car was originally local to me. A friend sold it with just a couple hundred miles a few weeks ago because he has an SF90 coming. As far as he knows the car was still stock. Supposedly one of the highest spec 675's in the US.
Ouch that’s terrible. I’ll be curious to know what happened.
It looks like one speculation is the owner spilled gas on the hot exhaust. Seems like it would be hard to do something like that. Maybe the auto shutoff failed and it sprayed gas everywhere?
