That's over 500 pounds lighter than what Motor Trend claims (something that can't be explained by any driver who could fit in the bucket seat and his luggage), so pretty big window.
The 1,545kg that was quoted previously seems to be the weight of the heavier GTS (in Europe).

Interesting - there it says GT R only 1,530kg = 3,373 pounds.

Porky or not porky, lap times will be more in line with the upcoming GT2RS than the current GT3RS..
The question is will it take the day after day track beatings like Porsches do. In the past.. No. Maybe now...

Impressive time, can't wait to hear somebody drive it back to back with a 3RS or eventually the 2RS. I drove the GT-S for a while, and while it was impressive I didn't care for the nature of the power delivery, ergonomics or handling. Felt like a refined Corvette. Fast but totally different. Played with one on the autobahn, very fast and was pulling to 280+. GT-R will be a monster.

Only time will tell. Still not in love with the styling but a compelling car

This car seems to be embedding itself in my mind. I dreamt last night that I needed a loaner car from the dealer, they just had a green GT-R come in, and they gave me that as the loaner. I felt little bad putting miles on it, but I liked the car!
BTW, the car was fairly well-optioned at $180K MSRP, and I had a prospect of getting a decent discount from that - so it was definitely a dream!

There aren't many "must-have" options on that car - they come pretty loaded with all the functional items, except Carbon Brakes (~$8k) and Track Package (~$2k). The base price without VAT is only 140k EUR in Europe. I think base price in US should be close to $160k (based on premium over GT S).

LOL, positive visualization, even when asleep!
You're getting one. It cant be helped now.
+1 Grant, you can load them up but mostly AMG's come with everything you'd want.
I bet Manifold will be out the door for less then a 991RS would be ;-)

Actually, this car will come very well equipped for between $160-170k...

The prospect of getting AMG muscle, character, and technology in a car that's significantly faster on track than the RS means that Porsche may finally have some real competition for road-usable track cars in the $100-200k range.
