Reading through some of these posts is quite comical/irritating.
LETS TAKE A STEP BACK. Heres what makes the most sense and will most likely happen (IMO).
There will be a 2018 991.2 GT3. No 2018 GTS.
Reveal of GT3 in March at the show. Builds being submitted late summer 2017. Deliveries late 2017.
Last week my dealership started accepting substantial deposits for it. I submitted my deposit and I ended up being 6th on their list excluding their VIPs (which they don't have many).
SO NOW .. the question becomes how much over MSRP will these dealerships charge to spec one? The GM told me if I want a car at MSRP this is not the car to pursue. Anyone have any educated guesses on this matter? How much over did the last GT3 go for to spec one? Also, was paint to sample offered on the early 2014 GT3 builds? Or was it only in 2015 at some random time?
I would love to spec one with paint to sample and would appreciate if anyone knew any information on this....I know what happened in the past could change for this gen but I am still curious how it went last go around!

^A # on a list is just that.. doesn't guarantee anything, if you won't pay the premiums in the US market. So plan to pay as much as necessary if you want one.

no one can accurately predict the premiums on these cars. So many factors at play. Economy, production numbers, actual specs of the car, , car bubble bursting , stock market correction, just to name a few. We know the first batch will be more than later production because of the demand , so we have to wait I see.

On my fourth GT3/RS - never paid a premium and never will. I've sourced cars both in-state and out of state, in addition to sourcing vehicles for other RL'ers. If you do your homework, are patient, and flexible on where you buy then you shouldn't have to pay a premium.
I get that some have to be first on the block and are willing to pay but beyond that paying premiums (at least in the U.S.) is a fools game IMO. All it does is propagate the stealer dealer mentality. Porsche has shown repeatedly that with the exception of true limited edition vehicles (numbered plate) it will adjust production to meet real demand.

After searching and asking around, I found a dealer that will sell me at MSRP and I'm #1 on their list (way out of state but at least my family lives close). They have 2 VIPs and no 918s. They say they've gotten ~3-6 GT3 in past generations. They said I definitely wouldn't be the first to get the car but I don't mind waiting. If they play tricks with me and want to charge over MSRP I will just take my deposit and move on. I'll do what I need to in order to get the car at spec and MSRP but I'll never play their dealership games. In the near future, their business model is going to turn upside down anyways.

Just curious why there is so little love for the PDK in the US. I will be ordering mine in a PDK if I get an allocation.
My guess is that a manual + LWFW will be the same price as the PDK option.

Just like the 997.2 GT3 was faster than the 997.1RS, I expect it to be faster again but you'll need PDK for lap times.
For street driving on great driving roads, I would prefer a manual.
