Just to refer to teh 991.2 GT3 Cup engine data again.
485 bhp (at 7500 rpm)
Redline at 8500 rpm
Torque = 354 lb ft (thats 40lbft up on last GT3 and 20 up on RS)
Torque will be the key - if its fatter through the 4000-6000 band it will have a big difference on track. This is where the RS pulls over the GT3 and if the new GT3 is well endowed it will pull as much if not more than the RS etc.
The key now is torque. The challenge is emissions tuning for a street car. HP of 10-20bph will make little outright difference (other than bragging rights). All IMO

^ CAlexio, if I'm not mistaken, Macca's posted info refers to the Cup car (ie. not a spy shot of an official .2 GT3 brochure). Therefore, the .2 GT3 may not necessarily have the SMFW. No celebrating just yet!

I saw this a while back on CJ's Instagram but can't find any mention of it anywhere in the Cup press release. Is any of the Cup's poli-matrix carbon fiber making it to the GT3 and/or RS?

PS how do I embed this pic? The embeded code from Instagram wouldn't work

EDIT: contacted my contact (she ain't no cleaning lady) and got the following: thinks SMF avail on GT3 but upcharge... I'm not confirming, but he's never been wrong before. called the 4.0 gt3R-based engine many months ago among other things.. so I'm keeping fingers crossed.
Haen, I'm adding it here for you. Can you imagine if they did that for road car?.. zero probability in my mind but would be amazing

I see the new Panamera has an 8 speed PDK. Many dual clutch going this was.
I wonder if there is a possibility we will see an 8 PDK-S in this Gen GT3 or RS? I guess with the extra torque it may not be critical. With the manual if the additional Cup car torque boost comes to pass I wouldn't dismiss a longer ratio for the track. The GT4 circulating our local track changes up only 2-3 times a lap only ever used 3&4 gear could use 2nd in one corner but doesn't - less upshifts mean less lost time - the GT4 only has 6lbft less than the 991.1 GT3.

Lambo already uses this stuff. They call it forged composite. I'm surprised Porsche isn't highlighting this tech! It's really going to change how sports cars are built in the future. Manufacturing time is incredibly quick, like 3 minutes without an autoclave (just a ton of pressure). Definitely worth reading this article from Car and Driver.

Getting a manual is even more of a no-brainer if they offer up a LWFW option. My guess is that a manual + LWFW will be the same price as the PDK option.

Would anyone actually prefer the heavy flywheel?
