Ralph Gilles said 2017 will be the last year, although a few may slip into 2018 before the new rules will force them out of production. Apparently it's something to do with the airbag requirements that would require a complete redo of the platform? Just not worth the cost given the low sales. I'm seriously thinking of grabbing one before they go out of production.
Too bad really. Sad day when the Viper bows out for good.

I've shrunk to 6'4 so it's snug. The pedal cluster is electric adjustable so you can move forward or back up. The seat is very comfortable and hugs your sides. My only issue is the seat height however, I just purchased a kit from Snake Oil Products that lowers the seat 2".

It's just a set of thick metal sheets and parts that install in place of the seat frame rail. Takes about 3 hours, DIY, and very much helps the situation of the space in the cabin. It will take out the ability to adjust the seat forward, but anyone who isn't a midget doesn't need the adjustability to begin with.

There is, however it isn't necessary for mounting them because the Viper's chassis is built so that the rear bulkhead is directly behind you. A removable plastic cover marked "Racing Harness" is behind the seat, right where it needs to be, to mount harnesses.

Harnesses are easy but I have NOT found a true racing seat that will fit. Not enough clearance to close the door. If anyone knows of any, please let me know. Best, Allan

Great review and agree with many points CJ mentioned. As of late Porsche have designed driver feel out of their GT cars and add major handicap on 991 GT3 by not allowing 18" slicks - It would be a track killer if 991 GT3 can run 18" Hoosier R7.
Some of my Z06 buddies are talking about getting the Viper ACR. We have couple nicely modded C6 Z06 and hope to run with fast driver in the advance group at Thunderhill with Viper ACR in 2016 - it will be great fun to do some chase

Great discussion guys. Always liked Viper. But, more than one review commented that it's V10 is one of the worst sounding engine! So, could you comment on the following, for the base model, please?
- How does it sound?
- How is the steering feel?
- How does the shifter feel?
- Is the heat on the sill bad enough to feel toasty on your arm?
Leaving aside the power, does Viper (not ACR, but the base model) feel visceral to drive at the street legal speeds? Or, is it a wrong car to have for the street? Is too much power come in the way of having fun?
Thanks.

Even with R7s, I wouldn't expect a GT3 to keep up with an ACR on the track, given equal drivers. The V710 ACR OEM tires are almost as good, and the power and downforce of the ACR would trump it.
