OT: My full Review of the 2016 Viper ACR

I'll echo CJ's comments and further note that adding horsepower to this car mystifies me. A bunch of drag racers throwing horsepower at a car that is a competent and complete package is asking for all kind of trouble. First, are you sure the additional horsepower will not overwhelm the already-taxed cooling system? Second, are these aftermarket companies doing the kind of endurance testing of their valvetrain that Dodge does? I've seen many a dropped valve with a "upgraded" cam. I will pretty much guarantee that every knucklehead throwing hp at this car would be better served spending the money learning how to drive it. And I would especially expect GT3 owners to appreciate that horsepower is not all there is. The GT3 with a lowly 475 hp punches way above its weight, and does so through the combination of the whole package.
Finally, why would you void your warranty on a car that you're going to use very hard on track? Personally, I have plenty of race cars that I have to maintain and repair out-of-pocket, and my brand-new track car is something I want to keep under warranty.
If you can't kick *** with the aero grip, huge tires, and 645 hp, then maybe you want to go back to school or consider a different hobby

Arrow racing is the official rebuilder for all Viper engine warranty claims and is now owned by Prefix (who builds the Viper bodies and paints them). Dick Winkles, the Viper engine's father for its entire run until now (including the GTS-R cars in the 90s/2000s) retired from Chrysler and now works with Arrow on these products. This is as close to an OEM upgrade as humanly possible without a Pentastar stamped on it.

Well.....
However, within my limited budget constraints, time and season of life I want a "production" car that is still under warranty that is a true driver's car.
The GT3 has been the PERFECT blend of all the years developing "wants" on track out of a car, horsepower, handling, horsepower, reliability, horsepower, balance, horsepower, predictability, horsepower...
I LOVE handling and maxing performance of a car's envelope, using one's own skillset as the baseline. This Viper, seems to be the natural next step?
Fit and finish, this Viper aint. But, we'll see.
Horsepower, handling, production and warranty and price... on paper it's going to be hard to beat.
Taking to track next month, so we'll see...

Four years of fun on track and all Porsche asks is a more rigorous maintenance schedule. Keeping it off the wall is entirely on us.

Got a ride in CJ's ACR earlier today at Chuckwalla. Oh man, what a beast of a car. I know he was only going 7/10th since I was in the car but man he was flying. The car had so much grip/traction. Man, it's getting harder and harder to resist.

991RS (not mine)
991 Gt3 (not mine, tracked)
Boxster Spyder (own, tracked)
P1 (own, tracked)
Huracan (tracked)
675LT (own, tracked)
650S (owned, tracked)
Viper ACR (own, track)
GT-R Nismo (tracked, not mine)
997RS 4.0 (own, haven't tracked yet)
conclusions:
P1 is everything in one car. BUT- if you can afford one, you already have other cars.
ACR is best track car. ACR is not an around town pimp-car like 458/Lambo.
675LT is best driving car all around, amazing on track but not as grippy as ACR
991RS is not as scary as 997RS cars were, why are paddles so small???
Boxster Spyder (GT4 also) for the money is (are) best porsche purchase possible
650S has way more power and way easier to daily drive than any other supercar
Huracan is WAY WAY better than the 458 but feels very digitally enhanced
GT-R Nismo is TOO EASY to drive on track- corrects too many mistakes.
I love the ACR. I am up to 4 track days now and despite that low number am approaching very closely the same times that set track records. This car is ridiculous and with 5pt harnesses, a little data and some spare wheels/tires I think I can go even faster. Incredible grip, torque, handling, aero, etc etc

So cool to hear this comparo CJ ^
I own a 987.2 Spyder with a transplanted 3.8L X51 engine. The car is perfection. I've owned various exotic cars and the Spyder is still actually my favorite on the street. I drove the new 981 Spyder as well and was extremely impressed.
Now that I know we have similar opinions on rewarding cars, I'm very interested in experiencing a 675LT. I had a 12C spider. Great car on the street. Lousy car on the track. Fantastic to see how far McLaren have come.
