Hello I am in the midst of having a detached garage built for car storage, detailing, gazing, lounging etc. This weekend I considered the concept of getting all the indoor galvanized aluminum components for the garage doors powder coated. I am still not clear on the color yet. Local garage door retailer said they've had a local firm do powder coating in the past for a similar set of circumstances. I am posting here to inquire with all of you as to whether any of you have any experience on the topic? Costs, pro's, con's, considerations etc etc. Thanks!

My garage in South Florida does not have issues with the rollup doors and related NOT being powder coated - even in humid summers. Are your doors in bad shape? I do have powder coated ceiling mounted fans from Air King and have not had an issue keeping them looking new.

I had that done. Lesson is to make sure ALL parts are powder coated. They didn’t powder coat the caps at the end of my garage door panels and they stand out to me, but not to the casual observer.
It is all about Plumbing, Heating, Security, HVAC & Electrical now with the interior somewhat heated and people working 12 hour days to pull this thing together quickly!
This was last Sunday, there sere actually 4 electricians sprinting along in the morning... I was impressed!
This week things have slowed down because the weather is great for skiing but not outside construction. The garage door company sent the wrong tracks and the siding is the wrong color. They got a bunch of it up and I asked a few times if it was right. They said yes and I flatly stated that it would have to be painted and that I'd eat the cost if I had ordered that color. The next day the contractor re-canted because sure enough, the sales rep had sent the wrong material. Now it has to come off and be replaced at their cost.
Here is my humble attempt at dressing up my garage. Sadly, due to strict heritage building regulations, I am not allowed to expand it to a double garage so I am going to install a lift when my GT3 arrives.
Can you DM me where to buy all that Porsche signage, emblem, and plaque? Thx!
Reminder to check everything twice: I already mentioned the door tracks and siding being wrong but now winter has set in and the winds have been blowing - HARD! Most days are 10-30 mph but we have had some 60 plus gusty days/nights that simply stop all activities. It is dangerous out there.
My electrician has been called off the job a bunch to do emergency repairs from all of the downed trees in the area and what was going exceptionally well and fast is now falling behind. We had to re-schedule the sheetrock company and a few other subcontractor activities. This did give the opportunity to improve the electrical layout and optimize the security and seamless internet systems.
The firewalls in the attic are now finished and sealed (big pain in the ***) with the scissors trusses and majority of the wiring in place.
None of this makes for great pictures, but I thought I'd share a bit of what is going on for those that are following the build.
Making progress... 2 car attached, 4 car detached, wash bay.
Garage and house are finally finished. Also have 2 car attached to house. On the wash bay we still need to finish the barn doors and waiting on cabinets ...will post when that is complete.
mini split at each end gotta see my cars when I grill my steak
