It is not crazy talk it is the fact that I know for sure. Obviously you need a proper driver to get those 5 seconds off.
ps: I did a lap time at Nurburgring 10 seconds faster then a factory driver (I believe it was Walter Röhrl) with bone stock 997GT3 mk2 only with race alignment and TrofeoR tires. With factory settings on Cup2s I was 6 seconds slower then Walter. If it comes to Porsche setup I know what I'm talking about.
Wait a second. When you say 5 seconds are you referring to a track like the ring? If so, then that totally makes sense. My reference point has been relative to a track that takes about 2 minutes or less for one lap.
Good info. Could you clarify what you mean by the tires 'giving up'? Worn out? Heat-cycled? Got greasy during sessions?
Heat cycled out. still had tread but push was un-drivable. I had to use Tro-R cause could not get MPSC2. I like them but also liked the MPSC2. I like the Tro-R better for me. I have no back to back data comparison though and its not like my data would matter. I run Chin Red but would not consider myself a hot shoe.
one day with mooty and 5 autocrosses (2 drivers at autox, so you could call it 10)
with that in mind i am pretty happy with the wear, and now that the girlfriend has her own gt4 to race, i can probably make a set of tires last most of the season.

Just to give you an idea how fast is GT3 991. Recently I drove Porsche GT4(factory alignment) and GT3 991 with our last version of race alignment setup. The only modification in GT3 was light weight battery. Both cars on Cup2s (GT4 had almost new Cups). GT3 lap time was 1:53, and GT4 lap time 2:01. Same driver(me) one day. 2:01 was the fastest ever lap for GT4 at this track. This day another driver(also professional driver who drove Porsche Super Cup) drove bone stock GT3 991 with factory alignment. His lap time was 1:58
We put a little thicker shims in front and were able to get one more second off our previous best lap time. Now it is all maxed out -3.6 in front and -3.8 in the rear. This is the fastest possible setup for this car without modification in suspension.

-3.6 / -3.8??
What toe settings were you running? And corrected front caster?
Thanks for the info. Do you guys correct the front caster with caster pucks with the extreme front camber? If so, what caster setting do you run?
It looks like the thread length is a little dicey to get to -3.6 with spacers on stock arms... are you using an aftermarket joint with longer threads?
We didn't do anything with caster and did not rotate top mounts. All suspension parts including nuts and bolts are genuine OEM except of shims. All we did was we added maximum shims on the lower control arm bolts to cover all the nuts thread to get maximum length out LCA. Since there is no thread remaining on the bolts we put some loctite on its thread. Top mounts we put maximum in.
Fascinating indeed. I'm tempted, except that those cambers seem way too high for road use, and I drive the car to tracks that are up to 6 hours away.
Krisa9977, could you share your impressions of the car? What you like, don't like, how it compares to other cars you've driven? I don't want to derail Joe's thread, so you can post in a new thread, or in my 'impressions' thread if you prefer: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...nifold-15.html
