Thanks...
Actually the GT3 RS 4.0 had a larger bore (102.7) and shorter stroke (80.4). So they did doubly well to extend the redline- in theory the RS 4.0 should be able to rev higher.

I wonder if it will save me from speeding on regular streets or if it changes the behavior of the engine/pdk: I could imagine that it would work like a rolling launch control. If so I guess the police won't like me driving around in town at 6500 RPM :-)

I agree a CGT 2.0 is a step to far. Time waits for no man, and that time has passed. But "progress" is normally a continuum, a series of decisions, and recently they've chosen to take a jump. Or just as likely they were pushed...
I don't see 997 values slipping, suggesting in some ways that the market sees a high point, and that we're already on a down-slope towards 4wd electric self-driving bubbles. I'll keep looking for throwbacks (BMW 1M, 4.0, etc) left in the wake of this charge towards "progress" to pick up... as long as they make them.

"Speaking in Geneva, Preuninger said, ‘This is just the beginning of the era. I would be interested in doing a Cayman GT4 RS version, but at the moment we didn’t even talk about such a thing. If the customers call for something like this we could think about it.
‘We underestimated the success of the Cayman GT4, which shows that we were right with the concept. In England, within three days two years of cars were sold. It happened in Sweden, it happened in Germany…everywhere.’
Preuninger also explained his decision to only offer a manual gearbox on the Cayman GT4, saying ‘We put a manual in it for good reason – to show people that we listened.’ Clearly, then, Porsche Motorsport is responsive to its customers’ demands. If enough people call for a Cayman GT4 RS, it might just happen…"

Well, AP claims they listen. We'll see. No shortage of people asking for a manual GT3/RS. Ultimately for PAG it comes down to whether they can make enough money to justify.....

That button is gonna be so easy to find with a helmet, Hans, harness and gloves on too. If it had any legitimate function, it would be on the steering wheel
