I ask because I don't get why a lot of people are saying they are turned off by this. In my opinion this is not a big deal. On the racetrack the difference of a 9k and 8.8K redline will make no difference in lap times. It is more of a bragging rights at the bar type of deal. "Well my GT3 revs to 9K and your Ferrari only revs to 8500 RPM so I am king of the bar."
All I know is that when I go to the track in my GT3 and meet a guy with an RS, I'll be sure to remind him that my car goes to 9000 and his doesn't.

Default Limited roll cage option?

I am in the process of placing a RS order in China and found out that Roll cage option is only available for White and Lava Orange cars. There is no roll cage option for GT Silver and Ultra Violet cars. I confirmed this issue by going to the UK Porsche site and the configurator also showed no roll cage for Silver and Violet. Does this mean that we don't track Silver and Violet RS cars? Anyone finds this very strange.

PDK-S in auto mode presumably optimizes the shifting to maximize pace. Doesn't it rev out to the full 9000 in each gear?

And when the RS goes by one can say "Did you hear that, he had to shift at 8,800, sounds completely different from my 9,000 car".

Dumb question and apologies if it's been in answered in the 350 pages. Is the engine 3.9L or 4.0L? The official website says 3.9L but everywhere I read it says 4.0

We Till have no idea why Ultra Violet is right? Barney, aubergine, almost back metallic??

We know configurator colors are absolutely useless... Remember Dubai gold accents on the .2RS. Turned out to be almost silver.

I wonder if they tested those side intakes for bird strikes?

I don't think so.

According to the French configurator:
Orange car: cage black or orange
White car: cage black or white
Silver or violet car: cage only on black

Thanks. I will wait for the local configurator to catch up on black roll cage.

No worries, I'll have the standard list of excuses ready - tires, tire pressures, brake issues, warm up laps, cool down laps, fuel conservation, etc.

Evidenced by what AP said in his interview, the engine has the same basic architecture, with some improved parts; stronger, lighter crankshaft, rods, etc. The RS was built as a track weapon first.
I'm sorry, I don't understand the point of your link. Or the post, for that matter. The engine speed (Pistons going up and down, camshaft rotating, etc.) is reduced when the RPMs are reduced. They wanted a lower RPM limit. Why?

Will it be possible to get the cage in the US? I know they don't offer it as an option but will we be able to get it through the dealerships as custom?
