Consolidated 991RS thread

I agree Paris might be a no show. Either these people have the world record for the tightest lip, or we just might not see the car in Paris. There has been no leakage on the RS other than spy, die cast, and the patent photo. I really hope we get to see this car in Paris. It's well over due since we saw what I just listed recently, and that's the only thing that's making me think there might be a chance.

Could the things you've been hearing revolve around a turbine or a manual box?

If it doesn't debut tomorrow and we have to wait for Geneva then it will debut TWO years after the GT3. The game has moved on in two years so it would have to be a game changer otherwise...

If the 500 hp rumor is indeed true, then I can only wrap my brain around a 3.8 vice a 4.0. I can't imagine a 4.0 variant of the 9A1 would only produce 25ish more hp. The 3.8 otherwise, and although a bit more mind boggling and likely risky, would make more sense. 500 hp with the 3.8 would ironically put out the same hp/L as the Speciale albeit with a flat 6 vice a V8.

With the 991 facelift not too far off, and there is no gt3 RS released nor a GT2, is it possible the RS will be a cross between the Gt2 and Gt3? I don't think there is enough time for both models before refresh.

Wouldn't be surprised if the 991.2 GT2 was the only GT2 variant in the 991 run, with perhaps a GT2 RS towards the end of the 991 generation.
Of course, I just made all this up, but it wouldn't surprise me if that's how it ended up.

My guess is that Porsche stays true to it's roots with the rs. Especially with the gt3 becoming more "GT" like with every new model. Hopefully they go the full rs way when it comes to weight saving, noise and driver involvement. I think less is more!

In discussions with my dealer's GM , he surmised that will be starting price with few options after that. stiffer and noisier as expected. Too raw for street only enjoyment. That is why I gave that allocation up and went regular gt3. If I wanted raw and noisy for the street, I would have kept my 996-3

The street car is going to have many features that the cup cars don't have, regardless. ABS, PASM, electronic diff, stability control, traction control and so on. I don't see why RWS would be a homologation issue any more than those other items are.

Update from 911uk.com:
The lighter, faster, more expensive 991 GT3 RS will revealed at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show, not at this week's Paris Motor Show as earlier stated.
Cars arrive from March 2015.

March 2015 is the delivery date on the pre-contract I have with my German dealer.
