Nothing special, except that the GT3 RS will be unveiled during the Paris motor show.

I'm not so sure as him, because someone from Porsche France has just told me I will lose my bet about the presence of the car at Paris...

PS: Bon courage pour les cours de français

Love the idea - motorcyles can do that. Only way to do it is to spin to 12k rpm though, so for a 4.0L, you'd be looking at a Flat-8 or Flat-12 to get the cylinders small enough to make it possible. But then the long crankshaft might be the limiting factor.

Here's how Ducati gets to 162.5hp/L at 11k rpm - it uses a stroke of only 60.8mm with a 600cc cylinder size! (I think RS 4.0 uses around 80mm or more):

BMW gets 193 hp/L at 13k rpm (easier to rev there with 250cc cylinders):

Certainly makes a good argument to go with a Flat-8 or Flat-12 in the future.

Thanks for the clarification as I spaced the fact that they could have been referring to motorcycle engines instead of car engines. Damn.

I think that would be great, I just hope they stay away from the Audi Panther Black...

I received this email just now from 911.com which is a huge enthusiasts resource site with a monthly newsletter. As you can see they seem firm the 991 GT3RS is coming at Paris. Its unlike them to report on rumour only so maybe we will have a nice surprise this weekend!

It'll match the purple 997.2RS that I have now.

The Paris show opens in 3 days, right? We'll know one way or the other very soon.

Yeah, press day is Thursday - hopefully it's there, but not seeing the usual leaks.

Except Porsche needs it's average motor to last north of 100k miles. Ducati doesn't.

What I heard this weekend was that it would be 500 HP and NA. I asked why not more than 500 hp because I was thinking may be 515 and there is just concern over reliability ect at 9000 rpm with a six cylinder. So figure bigger wheels, light weight parts, 4.0 liter fuel injected.

I hope it is announced in Paris and with production ending in Dec for the GT3 it appears this could be big possibility.

What I learned I do not think is any big secret.

I'm also curious into the hp figure. If DFI and other newer parts of the 9A1 upped the 3.8 by 40 hp, why would the rumored new 4.0 have the same output of the 7.2 RS 4.0?

What was the redline on the 7.2 RS? - and we still do not know the torque figures
