For those of you more familiar with this generation, any thoughts on what a fair price for this one is?

Original motor, CPO.

CPO gives you 2 more years to induce failure though, right? Track it a couple times and hopefully end up with a G6.

You would need to verify that it gives you 2 years from the date of purchase, and also ask whether you can buy another year of CPO coverage (should be about $2,500).

If you can get 2-3 years of CPO coverage, that should alleviate risk and this car could be a buy, but the price should reflect the risk of engine failure after the CPO ends.

Do you have a copy of the build sheet? What was the MSRP?

Have you seen the car in person?

Not sure if the Carfax is accurate, but it’s certainly been on its share of haulers to move between the various dealers.

Not a red flag that it was sold at auction, but at minimum (at least for me) this clearly wasn’t selling easily or it wouldn’t have need to be moved around so much.

The CPO is definitely nice to have and that’s the hook for selling many pre owned cars at Porsche dealers vs the independents. Note - this doesn’t mean it’s mint and without flaws, rather they know how to market cars and maximize ROI.

Key for me on any car, harder of course the more limited in options, is what are you comparing it to and how does it stack up. For example, condition, options, etc.

Price is only important IMHO once you know it’s the perfect car for you.

I was offered this car off market before Ryan got it. It's missing FAL and PCCB's or I would have bought it at the price he paid.

Thanks, Manifold. I understand, it's tough to pull off yellow well and the "RS" seems to do it easier than many. And I agree that this combination of painted hood and black roof/wing/wheels, yellow PCCB all go together perfectly on the RY. Not sure what you will think of the interior, it's a lot, but I'm digging it!

Yes, it has the yellow deviating stitching throughout, yellow belts, yellow door pulls, yellow vent slats, etc. The original owner went a little crazy on the specs adding red gauges, too. When I first saw it, I thought that I would change the gauge faces to white and be done, but before I got to do it, the colorful interior started growing on me. I now totally enjoy the look and have no plans to change it. I use it mainly for spirited rally type drives and get togethers and the somewhat bold interior is very fitting for those occasions. When I want to be more stealth, I use the GT silver turbo. This is sort of my event car and when I take it out, all the special options add to the emotion of the drive.

I also added a 992 shifter w/ Alcantara boot and yellow stitching to change it up a bit from my 991 turbo S. It's obviously a very different experience regardless, but the interior shifter change further differentiates the look and feel.

Here's a few pics, I don't have too many, it made me realize that I need to get busy on the photography.

I had inquired about that car when it was in the previous place (which surprisingly was also listed for MSRP) and as soon as I asked about DME readout/service records, the seller completely stopped communications. Its rather strange that the car never sold even at MSRP and now its being listed at MSRP. It looks like no service ever took place on carfax until after the car was 4 years old. I doubt anyone actually would do that to the car?

Probably just indy services. Prior owner did that from new and I've continued the trend. Entire notebook of service records, but nothing will show on carfax.

No, sorry. I mean the same situation occurred with my car, as to why no service records on carfax.

Got it, thank you.

In this case, I did reach out to the prior seller of the car who had said that he was helping the owner of the car selling it. I think it was some Nissan or some other normal car dealer. I had him ask the owner about service records, never heard back. Multiple follow-ups, and nothing. The current seller is different and now in carfax there is a service that was done about a year and a half ago. Nevertheless, extremely strange that this car even at MSRP never sold last time (and back then market was better).

I never understand why people build such a specific car with so many CXX options and never properly drive it and not service it at a porsche dealer. At the very least, the first oil change that is free could be done. But it somehow gone through Mercedes dealer in Wisconsin.
