no one bought 997 because they thought they would hold value when they were new.
imagine if Porsche made 10x as many 997 GT cars on a future gen AND a lot of the buyers were trying to flip and/or own a car because hOdL vAlUE…
oh wait…
I agree. When I owned my 997 GT3 that I bought new for 9 years no one really cared about the values and mileage. They were appreciated solely for what they were, not as an “investment”. The people that bought them back then bought them because of the car itself. There are a lot of people (some I know) who now own them for different reasons which I won’t go into. It’s kind of sad how thing have changed.
I know some 991 owners also own GT4s. Im on the hunt for a premium spec, fun color, and low mileage 2016 GT4. Please pm me if you have something you may considering selling. Will pay top of market for the right car.

exactly, I was 17 when my dad took delivery of his custom ordered 2007 gt3 in dec 2006, most didn’t even know what it was.
I drove it around quite a bit, snuck out with it a bunch of times but he also let my brothers and I take it to the track as well, and I loved the car, he sold it at absolutely mint condition with 14k miles at 8 years old for 75k and I’ll never forget my brother and I thinking….”some guy just paid 75k for an 8 year old 911 my dad bought for 110k (sticker)”
we couldn’t believe he got that much for it
so to the value guys, good news, is I’ve been wrong in the past a lot
but back then, it really was the “enthusiast” buying the gt3, today a very different story which is sad to me personally
Amen. My 2011 RS has track days, dings, etc....and all the better for it. I ordered it in March 2010 and was built July 2010 as an early 2011. There was a recession and so the notion of ADM or "what might it be worth down the line" didn't figure into the equation.
Every time people act shocked that I would track my GT3 baffles me. That's what the car is for!
I cringe every time I see GT3 posted for sale and says “never tracked”, it’s just sad. Who wouldn’t want to legally drive at bat sh*t crazy speeds with no cops around? Tracks are totally safe environments, no goofy bikers, peds, random animal darting out, etc?
But instead, we have idiots doing break neck speeds in the canyons. Buddy of mine saw his buddy and son die in a GT3, he stopped doing canyons runs. Take it to the track, please!

Most of the 997 Crowd now is the latter and they are the most vocal about the 997 as the last "pure" drivers car, but I never see them at any Track / Autox / Canyons but I sure see the chest thumping at C&C and on RL.

Back to the thread topic….since I just bought my Miami blue, here’s one I’ll share. Looks like it’s been tracked a little bit and had some Manthey suspension work as well as replacement PCCB pads. But only 1 owner.
