A 3 year old car with 500 mikes on it, that’s a car I wouldn’t buy! That means it’s driven 13 miles a month!!!! This can’t be good for the car no matter how you slice it. Yes, the owner probably took it in once a year for oil change, did all the routine things, but any article you google, clearly states cars that that sit to long, things begin to deteriorate, that’s just a fact. I mean that’s not even break in mileage. If you chat with Andreas Preuninger and ask him after 3 years a GT3 hasn’t even achieved break in mileages, he’s gonna laugh and say that’s not a good idea. Now, if the owners drains out all the fluids, that would help. Either way, your gonna find most buyers would favor a car with 2-3K miles a year over car with 150.

I met Jay Leno and he took me on a tour of his garage years ago, he has a guy living in his garage year round to do one thing, to ensure each car has its gears properly lubed as he said, to ensure things don’t dry out, go bad, etc.

3 years is probably fine. I think the low miles thing really becomes an issue with older Porsches.

I know from experience with 993s that these older cars that aren't driven will need a lot done to get them up to snuff. Gaskets crack, seals leak, shocks leak, steering racks leak and problems go unrecognized - deterioration of rubber components as a whole like vacuum lines, fuel line issues and the occasional rat or squirrel making a home.

The other advantage of a car with miles on it is that the car has been 'tested', and things that could go wrong are more likely to have been revealed and fixed. A car that hasn't been driven hasn't been tested.

thin skinned car salesmen who can’t unload their high mileage tracked 3 year old gt3, so they try to devalue the 3 year old pristine car with low miles that’s never been tracked.

No one is trying to devalue anything and why are we talking about 3 year old cars when that clearly isn't a 991 age range?

Sounds like you are the one with thin skin. You must have the 3 year old low mileage Porsche you look at everyday in your garage while the rest of us enjoy and drive ours. Carry on!

Got my new 992 GT3 exactly one week ago. Now have 634 miles on it. It will be tracked soon, as intended by its designers.

Quite a lot of updates in your garage lately. Do you still have the 3RS / GT4?

Yes, still have them. GT3 replaced a 991 TTS, which is a great car. I’ll miss it, but can’t have everything.

"""For me, best used car is one that is driven a couple thousand miles a year, kept in garage, well maintained, not driven overly hard on the road, and tracked little or not at all. Obviously, if it's a PDK car, you generally don't have to worry about overrevs."""

I track my cars, but want to buy cars with little or no track time. No contradiction there - when I'm the one tracking the cars, I know the service and performance and use history.
