Are we expecting some car pricing correction in this horrible stock market crash?

i would say it depends on how the virus situation lasts and whether certain people find themselves in a sell situation in the short term. markets are plummeting, so owners who can't hold pattern might be impacted if they have to sell. if you can hang on, it will depend on how quickly the markets can recover. car pricing will be much slower to react, but if demand at current prices can't be met, prices will fall.

Seems to me that every time the stock market retrenches drastically, lots of well healed boomers start lusting after more tangible investments. The thinking is that "what I lost would have bought me that (fill in favourite classic car) that I have always wanted... At least i could look at / touch / drive it !! " And so the classic car values can be non correlated to the market. I have been using the diversification argument to rationalize my seeming inability to walk away from any nice air cooled stuff that's on sale and so far my wife is buying my story.

^^^ yep.

In fact, yesterday I sat through a lengthy discussion on the Porsche Collectible Market review of past & present. And they spent quite a bit of time reviewing the 2008 market / economy crash, and what happened in the collectible car market that came afterwards in the years 2010 - 2012.

so yes, I agree.

Is 80-85K the price of 3.3 turbos now? Wonder how many things Cobalt can pick out on it.

yea, $80k all-in for that white one is a great price. I looked at all the pics as closely as I could, and seemed it was a nice car. Seemed it sat for much of the last 8-9 years & had reeeeally old tires. Quite a bit of grungy under-side engine bits (probably some rusted shut bolts too).

But none of that should really stop a car like that from hitting higher numbers,.... until it doesn't. This feels like a bad time to be selling,... good time to be buying a 964 Turbo.

Then again I've always felt there is a limited market & desire for these cars. Maybe just leftover sentiments from the old days where it felt like everybody hated the 964.

oh well. doesn't matter. keepin' & driving mine.

^^^ I hate to say but both sellers dropped the ball IMO and it would appear they were happy to let the cars go for less than they could have gotten. Occasionally you get some who will take anything over what they paid for it and just don't care to work for the extra coin. The chrome wheels old tires on this one and the custom tune on the other appeared to hurt more than help. Sellers didn't add enough and simple paint meter readings and other details speak volumes to buyers.

Heading to the auctions we may see people are frozen on emotional purchases with all the craziness going on at once.

This car has been FS on RL for quite a while:
https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1167345

Curious on the threads thoughts as to why it hasn't sold? I've followed this thread for a while and don't recall seeing any discussion on it. I've emailed and texted the owner to discuss but no contact yet.

Just my opinion, but the seller is asking top dollar. May be worth it to the right buyer, but sometimes it takes a while to find that buyer if he is especially firm on price.
