Looking for a cosmetically challenged car for mid 20s

I'm gonna restore my 3.6 turbo

And instead of selling the track parts ( logical )

I'm going to buy a cheap 91-94 964 and put all the track parts on it... Trying to lie to myself that this is the sensible thing to do

I guess the guy selling his 3.3 black one for $79k (price reduced) will eventually sell it if everyone keeps asking more and more for turbos.

Car has a salvage title for a front end impact.

Anthony and Stuart........

Thanks for the advice. I actually did make an offer on the White 93 but was turned down. We were to far apart. I would have fixed it if I could have done it and not be at too much of a loss based on current market conditions. These thing seem to be going up faster and faster!

I think I might add a "4" to the search. If I can find clean white one it may just be a bit less $$ than the "2". Easy enough to turn into a "2" anyways.

and they did not check the airbags. I totally forgot to ask Tim to do that.

Turning a 993 c4 onto c2 is not hard but I think on the 964 it is a good bit more involved and will cost some $$$.

Yes it is. I am doing a conversion to a C4 now. I am taking the easier approach. Replacing the tranny with a G50/20 993 6speed. Much easier than trying to convert the AWD tranny I have to replace both rear drive axles, replace the hubs up front and weld in the plate to support the shifter.

Might be easier and better to find a mechanically sound car that needs paint work and having a full windows out paint job. The cost would be similar to converting a C4 to a C2. I am only doing this because i have all the parts already and I am building a track beast.

BTW if you go that route I have a G50/03 needing a rebuild I can sell ya.

Market has been pretty dry lately. Hardly any hits on craigslist for coupes.

Yeah the market is totally dry, nothing coming up lately.

I am buying a Targa as there is no inventory for coupe and the ones for sale are too expensive. The premium for a coupe is now a lot more than what it is used to be vs a cab or targa...

Yeah, market is super dry and crazy expensive now for coupes. I'm also starting to give up hope on finding a 964 coupe. I'm starting to look at 993s. I feel like you can still find a decent 993 C2 coupe vs a 964 anything coupe (with a slight premium). Need to do more research though...
