Goes to show 89's don't command the same price as later 964's. Justly or not if this was a 91 or later the price would be mid to high 40's. Will be fun to see what final bid is and if it ends up on a dealer lot by this weekend

let's just say that a lot of the existing flaws are not highlighted at all in the pics from the auction. for an '89 C4 (even with a strong engine, which it has), this is over what i would have offered for this car. it's a reasonably affordable way into a 964, but it's not the best car per dollar.

yikes. a zoom in on the drivers side window trim tells me all i need to know about this car. buyer beware. bet that thing is a 60k car, by the time it is truly presentable. Perhaps it is a good candidate to "drive into the ground"?

Not sure what you are seeing? I would be mostly concerned with the boom box shelf and wiper delete. Car needs some serious TLC no doubt but a lot of that can be easily fixed given time and patience.

Considering the 89 with 47k original miles I helped sell here back in the fall with all the RUF extras and near new condition for $44k. I agree someone paid up for this at $35,100. But who knows why people spend their money the way they do.

the trim is almost rotted off, rear window, driver's side. bet there is lots worse.

I believe that is the alarm sticker that is dirty and should be removed. The frame looks to be in excellent condition. I would say the car was well represented. It is no beauty queen and IMO sold for more than it should but the lack of any quality product is making the price of these rise as well. If the paint hasn't been polished thin it is possible to make this car a looker without a huge expense if not a respray will be costly. It might make a great beater for the right person.

I am kicking myself for not buying the low mileage 1 owner 89 for $44k. If this actually sold for $35k I bet that car is worth closer to $55-60k now especially with all original parts and a complete RUF package.

no axe to grind at all, but i can assure you that the car was not well represented. the paint was badly polished through in several (large) areas and there were dents and dings around the car. i have pics on my phone. to me, that car is only a candidate to be driven into the ground at this point in time. if values continue to climb and C4s rise some, it might be worth the full repaint it truly needs and the interior refresh it needs. the clutch was horribly out of adjustment, but the motor pulled very strong. if it did sell, i hope the bidder had a chance to see it in person first.

Agreed. Looks very nice and has had some major service addressed recently. The CCW wheels look great too.

The pics didn't show the burn through but he did address the dings and they are quite visible in the photos. I have a dent guy that could fix most of that for a few hundred and you would never know it was there. From what I see I could take a car like this adjust the clutch and do the necessary paint work and fix up the interior for around $3500 to $5000 all in. Far better than a lot of the crap I have seen people try to pass as sound cars lately. I don't see any rust and have not seen the underside but someone obviously felt $35k was a reasonable price and that only helps the rest of us.

Looks like a good deal. Considering the engine was refreshed along with other things. Considering 40k is the norm for a high mileage car and I'm still learning about this car but would like to hear what say the 964 experts say.
