Looks like I am holding as I haven’t seen any US cars!

I have seen some Euro cars that I would be happy to import. However is there any route to registering a Euro 964 in California? Not an RS but an equivalent model that was sold in the US. I’m guessing no as they won’t have the required emission stickers, however I am open to suggestions if there is a way.
There is a way but it would require you to go to a special emissions location and have a mechanic perform an emission inspection to the tune of $7500 to $10k. If its missing anything then add money to that. Unfortunately it negates much of the savings buying overseas but for the right car like an RS it’s worth it. Personally I also think its much more difficult to find nice condition cars in Europe as many were driven year round and have rust/corrosion.

Thanks for the info, probably not worth the cost on a driver level C2, but definitely worth it to bring a real RS. I am looking for something to drive and mod, that pretty much excludes RS’s. I am familiar with corrosion on overseas cars as I am a Euro immigrant. My ideal would be a California car, typical corrosion free and already have the emission stickers. Also from what I have read it seems that there is some wiggle room to modify and still meet emissions.

I also read a brief article on Singer getting an exception or waiver of sorts. I guess they paid for testing, maybe similar to what you mention where they demonstrated lower emissions than the stock engine and were permitted to sell that configuration.

Searching over the last year, I have seen price asks from low 60's to well in excess of 6 figures. I was buying to keep long term and was seeking the missing "puzzle piece" of air cooled series 911's and had to be in Grand Prix white only. I wanted a very well sorted car with few needs and willing to pay up for the right car. I will say I have had great luck finding what I was looking for thru this forum on all my purchases ie.89 G50 , 97 993 C4S and now the 90 964 C2.

Great forum and great enthusiasts here which makes the search and buy experience very rewarding. Best of luck in your search.

state or country where purchased: NV, USA
Model year: 1991
C2 or C4: C2
Coupe, targa or cab: Coupe
color: Guards Red
tip or manual: Manual
NA or turbo: NA
any aftermarket accessories that came with the car (including but not limited to wheels, suspension, exhaust, seats, stereo, mirrors, pedals, steering wheel, etc.): 3.8 conversion done, LW RSR Flywheel, Wong Chip, quite a bit of New valve/transmission work within the last 5 years, suspension is aftermarket as well with some RS parts
did the vehicle come with tool kit: yes full kit
did the vehicle come with tire inflator kit: I believe so
your assessment of the vehicle history in terms of paperwork/receipts (1-10, 10 being highest):j 5/10 almost all docs from the last 7 years only
your assessment of the interior quality (1-10, 10 being highest): 7/10 needs a new shifter boot and a heavy cleaning but overall above average
your assessment of the exterior quality (1-10, 10 being highest): 5/10 needed new tail lights, small amount of exterior rubber, and definitely needs a high quality paint polish
your assessment of the mechanical condition of the vehicle (1-10, 10 being highest): probably 7/10 works great, but ithas no AC and no power steering, spending about 11k (including parts) bringing all items up to date, rebuilding the steering rack & other things, other than that no problems other than a little smoke on startup which rennsport is also fixing

even with the mileage, that's consider theft by today's standards.
