964 Prices

Agreed prices are up across the board, even 991s are hard to find with some Porsche dealerships having zero used 911’s. I am fortunate to be looking for my 2nd 911, this time air cooled and I am not in a huge rush but I’m ready if the right car pops up.
Looks like I am holding as I haven’t seen any US cars!
I have seen some Euro cars that I would be happy to import. However is there any route to registering a Euro 964 in California? Not an RS but an equivalent model that was sold in the US. I’m guessing no as they won’t have the required emission stickers, however I am open to suggestions if there is a way.

There is a way but it would require you to go to a special emissions location and have a mechanic perform an emission inspection to the tune of $7500 to $10k. If its missing anything then add money to that. Unfortunately it negates much of the savings buying overseas but for the right car like an RS it’s worth it. Personally I also think its much more difficult to find nice condition cars in Europe as many were driven year round and have rust/corrosion.
I also read a brief article on Singer getting an exception or waiver of sorts. I guess they paid for testing, maybe similar to what you mention where they demonstrated lower emissions than the stock engine and were permitted to sell that configuration.

Seeing as this is a price thread.... do you care to share?

@shopcat and others - I will just simply state it was a fair deal for both parties at current market for a very well sorted car. Pricing is always contingent on condition of car, recent completed work, mileage, etc.. so unless you go into specifics as to exact condition and needs it is a difficult question to give validation to the market. Searching over the last year, I have seen price asks from low 60's to well in excess of 6 figures. I was buying to keep long term and was seeking the missing "puzzle piece" of air cooled series 911's and had to be in Grand Prix white only. I wanted a very well sorted car with few needs and willing to pay up for the right car. I will say I have had great luck finding what I was looking for thru this forum on all my purchases ie.89 G50 , 97 993 C4S and now the 90 964 C2.
Great forum and great enthusiasts here which makes the search and buy experience very rewarding. Best of luck in your search.

At that price was it February of this year? Even it being a 7 of 10 that was a great deal. Congrats!
