What are IE Tuscan rods? Are they stock rods that have been modified by Integrated Engineering?
They are forged rods with 22mm wrist pins made of 4340 crome moly.
Here is the link to the full description.

Ahh, thanks for that Bob. Look like a decent option. What are you goals for the motor?

Patrick,
I’m hoping for a fast HPDE track car. 400-500HP is my power goal with a Rotrex supercharger, if a Rotrex solution for our swap becomes available. Otherwise a high revving NA engine.

But a few people have tallied up the costs to build the 07k for comparison. But still apples to oranges. You're comparing specialized machine work on top of a comparatively expensive and limited quantity engine to something you can find in literally any junkyard and buy off the shelf parts for in the event that something gets damaged.
In addition to all of the benefits detailed on the first page of this post (at least in comparison to a stock 2.5T I4, but many still apply to a stroker engine). Different strokes for different folks.

Sounds like fun Bob! I've not heard of anyone S/C'ing one of these. Good luck.

I could buy exactly twelve running 07ks for what I paid for my last 3 liter donor, which is now in pieces in my garage after a stuck injector destroyed one of its lovely Alusil bores.
Just the headache of trying to find 944 main bearings in stock this year is enough for me to want to look for greener pastures. One day...

There is a separate thread about Rotrex superchargers for this swap, here is the link.

I don't know what an offset ground stroker engine costs...

Isn't the attraction of a 3.0 hybrid stroker, that it's 4 widely available (cheapish) pistons/liners/rods plus fitting liners and offset grinding a 2.5 crank. The extra capacity should go some way to making up for 1 less cylinder. And there's no mucking around with a modified sump or bellhousing.

But I want the sound of a 5syl.

Don't these 5 cylinder conversions cost a lot more than an offset ground stroker kit?
AFAIK, the VW 5 cylinder 07k engines were only built and sold in North America, so they may be unavailable or expensive in other locations in the world. Your stroker may be a better option in the UK. Hope this helps.
