Nice work! What are people doing for NA swaps? AER and Chump won't allow front mufflers.

Factory 07K header works fine with modifications to the collector flange.

I used the SPA turbo manifold with a t3-vband adapter, and made a custom "down pipe" to the cat.

I'll make a simple block off plate for the waste gate port and send it until I go turbo.

The stock manifold actually has 2 heat shield iterations, the first is the aluminum one spot welded in place, the one seen in the picture is a steel casing that has been seam welded around the 5 runners, and they all collect laterally. I chopped mine apart good while trying to get it off

quick measurement request - what is the height from the ground to the top of the valve cover (or whatever the highest point is) measured at the front of the engine?
and what is your ground clearance to bottom of oil pan?

What are you trying to figure out? The oil cap is the closest thing to the hood. The oil pan is above the bottom of the crossmember

Just trying to work around the 944's low hood line and using your swap and LS guys numbers for data.
Want to know clearance to the hood at the front of the 07K V/C.
Not concerned about the back by the firewall.
For example on a stock 944, over the length of the fuel rail, the hood rises about 2.5" front to back.

Thanks for the pics gentlemen. Hinton, would a Lambo header plumbed the other direction work, or will it hit the firewall? The V-band is nice for race work for sure.

Also, my car doesn't have power steering. Maybe I missed the belt config, but will all the drive belts work without that pulley?

Thanks again,
Patrick

Without having a car here to measure there is roughly 1” of clearance from the front of the VC to the hood. There are no modifications required to the hood or crossmember.

You would have to use the opposite lambo header (RH instead of LH) and it would go directly into the firewall. I don’t believe the factory header will be much, if any, of a restriction on a mild NA build.

As for belt routing, there has to be something in place for the PS as it is a dual pulley which the crank drives and then the second side drives the rest of the acc. At come point we will be looking into a PS delete with an idler pulley. For my build I took the PS pump, pulled the vanes out so it would not pump, packed it full of grease and capped off the inlet and outlet. Worked well.

My car also has manual steering, I pulled apart an ebay AC compressor and just mounted the front half with the stock VW pulley to hold the place and make the belt routing complete.
