Does the 07K share a bellhousing with the 1.8T? If so, the new Motor Werks Racing kit will have a bellhousing that should work.

Yes and no. Pattern is the same, but the 07K has the timing chain housing on the back of the cylinder head that protrudes into the bellhousing space so most simple adapter plates will not work. That and Motor Werks Racing is only interested in selling whole kits/cars and not individual parts.

Ah, then for you the process should be simple. Put both cars in the garage together one night. You'll have your car in 9 months!
Only problem is you might end up with this instead!

So is it possible to have the 07k engine in a 944 with the original cross member and the hood closed and unmodified? Isn't the engine simply too tall?
It'd be so nice if this project was ever completed!....

Drifting
I've been able to personally tune my own 07K ECU with MED17 engine management to Stage 1 and working on Stage 2 similar to IE

I would love to be apart of the challenge of Tuning the turbo engine at some point.

I’m test fitting one now, and I think it will be possible with a modified sump and oil pan, and a lower profile cam cover and external PCV system. Here are some pics with it sitting in a shell I’m using for mock-up. I think about an inch needs to come out of the sump/pan, and it would fit. Next I’m going to pull off the aluminum sump casting and see how doable that is.
*EDIT* updated pics.

I think pretty much vertical, which may give me just enough room for a decent size turbo and manifold. I am looking at how to modify the sump to get it to sit about an inch lower so hood clearance hopefully won't be a big problem.

Actually I had the engine sitting too far back in the pictures I originally posted. I just updated the pics to show it a little closer to where it will end up.

thats better...surely that oil cap must be shortened to clear the hood?
also, engine's not even bolted down all the way and you've already got "torque straps" holding it to the fender
