But in case it ends up being too short, that's good to know about Black Sea R&D, thanks.

I think I should have the scan still, let me dig for it.
I believe the other guy working on the 1.8T swap in the 944 forum had a scan done too, but not sure if he's willing to share since he paid a lot of money for it. I've also got some 01E bellhousing CAD files I can share too.

I think with a properly designed pan/sump, a normal system will work just fine. The factory upper pan on the 07K is already pretty nice. If we could get it to work with the stock upper and maybe add additional volume and baffling in a customized lower it would be just fine for most 944's. EPS in the UK built the crazy huge aero pikes peak S1 Quattro tribute car with an 07K and dry sump....I think they certainly found the benefits of a dry sump since it's a full on race car. Dutter Racing in Germany has a B5 Audi with longitudinal 07K swap and dry sump, but I think they just did the dry sump because they could, not that it was absolutely necessary. It certainly would make things easier, but more expensive.

As for the 1.8T, isn't that totally different from the 07K bellhousing interface? In your post above, are you saying that the QuickTime RM-4082 (VW I4 to Muncie) would bolt right up to the 07K?

I had thought that the transverse engines sit at the same 15 deg that the longitudinal Audi engines, but someone recently told me that wasn't true for the 07K transverse. Regardless, standing it upright is a non issue so long as the pickup is correct. Most of the longitudinal VR6 engines stand them straight up

So, I’ve slanted the 07K in my mock-up and it fits just as well. Shown below with the SPA Turbo manifold and Beetle 07K accessory bracket. This bracket accommodates a power steering pump, which the Jetta and Golf did not have.

Geez hearing this engine run has made me a believer. Finding a solution to this into a 944 would be amazing. The 07k seems to be getting swap love into other Audi models, which would make great street cars - not sure I would want anything that heavy with the engine hanging that far out front on a road course though.

I believe the RM-4082 places the starter in the same location as an 01E....which would still require you to modify the rear timing cover of the 07k for the starter like the longitudinal AWD swaps require. Or get one of the Iroz modified starters if you can get Hank to make one.

Yes, I found it. I'll send you a PM.

That looks great, but I think it may interfere with the 944 crossmember (by a couple inches). I have a machine shop milling off a 15 degree wedge on the front left corner of the OE cast aluminum pan. When there is enough clearance for the crossmember, I will weld on a new flange. Then I will fab a new sump to bolt on the bottom. A new oil pickup will need to be made as well, since the OE one interferes with the crossmember.
I may also offer a dry sump lower pan that would bolt onto the same machined upper pan.
Here’s what it looks like now compared to the original:

I had a good phone call with Quick Time yesterday, and they are interested in making a new product for this swap. They sent me CAD drawings for their RM-4082 (Audi/VW to Muncie) and RM-6033 (LS to 944 torque tube). I'm going to design a new bellhousing that sort of merges the two, and puts the starter in a location similar to the original 944 setup. The new bellhousing will accomodate a hydraulic throw out bearing similar to what LS clutches use, so no more clutch fork to deal with. This will require a push type pressure plate, rather than pull type like the 944 uses. If there isn't an existing clutch that works, I will probably try to work with SPEC to make a push version of their 944 or 930 pressure plate.
