When the DME resets (reboots) it takes a barometric reading and since the car is not in an expected state (partial throttle ect) this effects the closed loop function.

Originally I was using Rogue's tuner, basically uploaded image. On the DME swap I used M Tune chip/chipboard that Joshua sent me. No change.

Actually, Joshua has been great in assisting me but just thought I would throw it out for some ideas.

Hmmm.... I'm not familiar with that logger or how you might tell that memory is loading (from what to what?). If you're fairly sure the DME is resetting, I'd be inclined to monitor the 12v power to the DME using a logger or circuit tied directly to the battery. If you're logger can't be wired independently like that (?) and you don't have something else to use, you could always make a circuit to switch an LED on (and leave it on) if at anytime the DME power on pins 18/35 lose their 12v supply. You might do the same with the coil and injector power wires. With a little thought, I'm sure you could make tattle-tale LED's like that for a few bucks and a trip to Radio Shack.

When I did the turbo swap ( which took eternity ) the brand new injectors ( at that point sitting in a ziplock bag for 6 yrs ) functioned great ... for about 10 -15 mins ... Then the car would stumble ...I am like WTF !! So Tom recommended removing one thing at a time ... He concluded after we replaced the injectors ( with his stock ones and some reprogramming the car ran like a clock) that it was the injectors. I sent out the injectors and had them cleaned and flow matched at Witchhunter .Sadly it didn't fix the problem, so I just went and bought a new set of injectors for 300 bucks and that solved that problem
That was until that damn KLR cracked solder joints reared its ugly head ...
Any shot its the injector(s)
Just groping here for a answer ?
Good luck

Ed

This is another one of those grab-at-straws type things, but with all of the wiring you were messing with, any chance you've bumped something loose at the ignition switch?

Does your car have the factory alarm?

Thanks Brad!

Since I did testing with DME power and grounds wired directly to the battery, I do not think the ignition switch would cause a DME reset (reboot) as it would just kill the coil.

Update: I think I got it, details posted after I am 100% sure.

Yep, Fixed!

It was the HVC II coil. Not sure if the coil failed or if we have some problem with the DME driving the HVC II coil. The car was fine for the first 400 miles but when I run it it causes the DME to occasionally reset. Joshua is doing testing to see if the issue is repeatable. The coil could have gone bad, we really are not sure at this point. I really appreciate Rogue's help with this, he spent a great deal of time helping me troubleshoot. I think it was Pauly that said "start with what you have touched", I thought...I have touched everything, new motor, rebuilt harness, new ignition system, new turbo, Rogue's DME tuner package etc. I think that is what made this so difficult to track down. I was so sure it was in my rebuilt harness, in the end it was fine.

In the mean time I am running my original coil. I just got back from the first real spirited run and the car is just simply AWESOME! Had boost set to 15 psi and it is the fastest car I personally have ever driven. It is really hard to describe how the car feels, it has amazing bottom end power. The 94.75 mm stroke simply transforms the bottom end. That matched with the GT3582R provides a very high and even power delivery across the rpm range. Right now I could go on and on...

Great to hear!

Please keep us updated on Joshua's results. After reading his ignition thread I was considering an HVC II coil as my next mod. I'll hold off until we get a verdict on what happened with yours.

So far I haven't been able to repeat the issue with my own car running the coil... When I get Shawn's coil in, I will do a thorough testing.

Regardless, I have a better coil/ignition solution in the works anyway.
