Fixed that exhaust leak, 17-18 psi at 3500-3600 rpm in 4th. in 3rd the car accelerates to quick and gets full boost 3800-4000.

Tomorrow i'll get some logs hopfully.

on a side note, when i sometimes put my foot down at 3500 the engine shuts of for a split second and launches, not sure why, i don't think it's a boost spike but i'll try get it to do it while im logging to see what's really going on.

Longtime no update so here we go.

I've got some data logs! i fixed the RPM Issue by using the clamp inputs (that read pulses from the spark plug cables). i got a wire from the input from the clamp input, put a 330k resistor to it and tapped that into the -ve pulses to the coil. And the other wire from the clamp also had a 330k resistor that got grounded, now i have a smooth RPM.

This run was done in 3rd gear.
Everything is smoothed by .50 seconds.

I'm not sure how sensitive the MAP sensor is but it's telling me it hit 19psi but on my eboost 2 it reached 18.2 as maximum boost. it shows it's wavy so i need to adjust the sensitivity of the 2boost 2 to get a flatter boost curve.

By the looks of things, i get max HP @ 6200 rpm shown by the MAF by the amount of air drawn in.

as requested

A Boost vs RPM log

I took the smoothing off.
This shows that the boost fluctuates, and i need to adjust the eboost2 boost sensitivity

Hey Paulyy, I think it would be cool to see an 'after' pic of the engine bay from the same angle as on your original post.

By the way, how is the fitment of the MAF pipe with the stock alternator in there?

well i've got to attend a water leak from the tree pipe that goes over the maf so going to change all those rubber hoses to braided lines with custom fittings. when that's done i'll get the before and after shots.

the maf was easy to fit. it was made to fit with the stock engine configuration

How is that one gasket holding up where you had to cut some of the fitting on I believe was the turbo?

that's holding up good. from the adapter i bought to the turbo leaks oil. the o-ring isn't big enough or the slot it to deep.

looks like you can lean it down a little.

Also I think you'd be happier with the .63 HS

did you have a ported shroud housing? i cannot remember
Vic has the same turbo and his turbo kept surging on spool up

I havnt used that turbo but we have done a similar type setup and yes an anti surge housing may be necessary to avoid too much surge. I thought you had that already? I was just commenting that you are seeing a late spool for that power level. If you plan on running more boost then maybe it is a good idea, I'm only speaking for your current level. It seems that you are not maximizing the combination.

it is pretty late for that power level, but i plan on 24 psi on e85. so it should be worth it with this housing.

I did expect more power then what it's producing now. but if i where to keep it at 18 psi i would have just chosen the standard GT series turbo, where these are made to sing at higher boost levels.

So are you saying it's out of it's efficiency range?

Paulyy.

Currently I am getting a Precision BB CEA 5557 with A/R .82 installed together with a new cam and ported head. How do you think it will compare to the turbo you have?

Last edited by KSira; 03-16-2012 at 10:01 AM. Reason: fixed A/R, fixed turbo name

when i get airflow numbers i'll tell you if it is or isn't. it should be in the middle of the islands on top end power, but the GTX series turbos are made for higher boost levels compared to the GT series. when they did back to back tests with north of 20 psi the GTX was higher in the power curve.

I have no idea. i'll do some research on that turbo tomorrow and i'll try come out with an answer.
Unless someone else who knows about the turbo you're talking about can answer it.

Sorry i never got to reply to this.
That turbo looks slightly bigger then a gt3071r. IMO you'll get better spool times then me and i don't think it'll hurt top end tomuch at all. but because you've got a cam and ported head, you should see good numbers with that setup.
