Nice to see George's 53K mile 90 GT bring $37K on BAT!

Cheers,

Dave

Blown original engine, and no ready replacement. If done well, they can be just fine. See Just Peachy (admittedly not a GTS, but Tony did a wonderful mod job on a GTS too)

Hi Ed,

Last name Cadwallader, don't recall him being on Rennlist. He was always pretty busy with Exxon/Mobile, but when he had the chance he liked to crank some miles on the GT. My impression over many years was he was a driver, not a collector type, that was also based on the amount of brake rotors, pads, and track tires I sold him over the years. He always took top notch care and maintenance of his GT (never flinched at a parts price) but from everything I could tell he loved to drive it like it was designed to be driven!

He was a good man and I never recall him saying a negative word about anyone, or really anything. Just lots of great conversations between a couple of hard 928 street drivers for over 10 years having fun, sharing setups, etc..

Funny, I could always tell when he called, Jeannie would answer from across the room and downstairs from me and I could hear it.. " HEY JEANNIE, IT"S GEORGE..HOW ARE YOU!"...and this was thru the handset, not speakerphone!!

Yes I think the buyer got a good deal too. But keeping it real, there were lots of little things in that ad that I knew were gonna hold it down. Wish I could have spent a weekend with it and then a couple of days with my Nikon. But given the circumstances I think it did real well,

Crap, just remembered I forgot to ask if the Authority Chips and Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator are still installed. Will have to call and make sure everyone knows.

Happy Thursday Ed,

Dave

Dave,

I think Stephan is happy with the selling price, but we both thought it could easily break 40k.

Here's an obituary for George that is still up from 2013. Athlete, engineer, cook, classical pianist, car enthusiast... he lived a full life for sure.

I searched back though my RennList/PorscheFans archive and I don't see any trace of him on this forum or the previous email list going back to '98.

Hi Don,

I hope that Stephan is pleased, he did a great job and I am confident he made his Dad proud!

I never knew George to even mention Rennlist, he chose wisely by living a full life as you mentioned and was always busy. I also think he may have had to spend a lot of time on computers at work, so getting on a computer to talk cars would not have computed, I guess he preferred to do that at the track, and certainly on the phone with me and I am sure many others.

All my best,

Dave

FYI: IB deleted the '991s for sale' thread on the 991 board today. Might want to reach out to IB and do some preemptive eye poking.

Here is the thread about it being taken down.

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1088...riously-3.html

I never went there, so I can't say they were doing anything different than what we do on this thread. But it sounds like some RL site sponsers complained about non site sponsers getting there for sale ads posted. As far as I know eBay, Craigslist, BaT, and the like do not sponsor RL so does that mean our For Sale thread is next? That would suck and would just cause multiple independent for sale threads everyday.

Censorship at the behest of sponsors is how IB turned the 'vette forum into venue for propaganda as opposed to moderated but otherwise free discussion. Sponsors that can't abide by a little very oblique competition need to be taken out behind the woodshed.

If IB focuses on Rennlist the same way ANY post naming a non-sponsor or discussing a product from a non-sponsor will get deleted. ***** that.

The reutterwork forum for 928s is pretty active: http://reutterwerk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=69

Over the last couple of years - due to the ridiculous IB IT issues - I've come close to abandoning Rennlist and setting up camp at Reutterwork.

Some of us have been. Example. Yesterday a new user posted up his E-bay advert and that was his only post. Violation of the rules and someone caught it.

Dave, Reutterwerk does not have anywhere near the depth of historical knowledge as renny does. I still go to Reutter from time to time, but vey few folks there, and no deep knowledge pool. It would take years to build that up like this one has. But that's the part that sucks,
