When the OE radiator was trashed, whoever removed it failed to remove the hose's bracket, the bracket's three retaining clips and its rubber strip from the old radiator. Then when they installed the all-aluminum radiator they were too lazy to go get the factory parts from the trash can. If the replacement radiator had no accommodation for the bracket (which from the pictures looks like is not the case) then the radiator was some sort of aluminum abortion rather than a made-for-a-928 radiator.

At least the current owner reports having cleaned and oil the K&N...

Nothing else on the targa bar system that I could find in that issue. But, how about this?

Yeah that was what I was thinking about! I want one of those! I don't care if it even does anything (other than light up). Lol.

Not sure why this has not been posted, but Jim Morrison has his GTS on craigslist in TX. $42k

1993 GTS

This is a Canadian market 928 GTS. It has been in the US since new though. The original owner was from Quebec and had a home in Florida and he would have it trucked down to his winter home each year. The only difference from a US to Canadian 928 is that the gauges are all in metric units and it has daytime running lights. That is all.

It only has 30,250 miles on it. It is black paint on black interior. I have wrapped it blue because the paint is in terrible condition and needs to be fully repainted. It runs great...really fast, but it is a 25+ year old car so it has plenty of little things that you can do yourself or take your time and do whenever you like. AC is not working! Needs a new compressor as the shaft on the current compressor has a slight bend to it so the pulley does not track true.

Interior is in very good condition and I have a PPI from a local shop that specializes in 928's. They have worked on all of mine (all 13 of them!) and the shop owner has one of his own. If you know Porsche's in Austin then you know TPWS. They just did the PPI, a new Torque Tube, oil change, new spark plugs, and quite a few other things. They did the T-belt and water pump about 5 years ago, so it has a few more years before you need to worry about that again. The condition of the car is reflected in the price. If this car were perfect it would be a $70k GTS. Only 190 GTS were built for North America in 1993, and even fewer the following two years. So the GTS is super rare. This car is priced low so the new owner will have room for investment and will likely make money on it when they decide to sell it.

This 25 year old car is in very good condition both inside and out. It was wrecked by the original owner, but there was no airbag deployment and it appears (based on TPWS's review and knowledge of this car and 928's in general) the damage was only cosmetic and was properly repaired. There is no evidence that the car was cobbled back together in any way. Just door and fender and bumper cover replacement.

1) If you know nothing about the cars, do not contact me
2) If you used to have one but have no mechanical skills, and just want to tell me all about the ones you used to have, do not contact me.
3) It's a 25 YEAR OLD CAR, therefore no warranty and I have no idea "if it will make it home" (but it likely will!)
4) It shows 48,XXX kilometers on the odo because it is a Canadian car...which translates to 30,XXX miles. Because the odo is in KM's instead of miles there are crazy discrepencies on the carfax. I have another Euro car with the same problem. You get it inspected and the tech does not translate the number to miles and then the next guy does so the mileage reported goes back and forth between miles and KM's and just messes everything up.
5) I will not deliver the car. I will not let you drive the car, nor will I show it to you unless you show me cash money.
6) If you "really, really, really, really, really like the car and want to come see it", email me your phone number and make an appointment instead of filling my inbox with SPAM
8) If you're serious, you'll do like I did and get yourself out here to look at it, drive it and have some knowledge about the cars. It is 26+ years old. It runs. It looks good. I am not clairvoyant and cannot tell you what's going to go wrong with it. It has not been abused. These cars, like any cars, have weak points. The flex plate on this car has been inspected and is fine.

928's are great cars and a blast to drive but they will break because all cars do. 928 International has a plentiful supply of anything it may need and Mark does a great job supporting 928 owners for 25+ years. If you have never read anything on Rennlist then you probably shouldn't buy a 928 frankly. It runs, it looks good (though the wrap is showing it's age and should be redone) but Porsche has no more corner on the market for magic cars than anyone else. Machines require maintenance. So if you think you can just buy one and drive it and drive it and never have a problem...please move on and go buy someone else's car, thank you.

Here is another link that is easier to view with some more hi-res photos.

Also is it just me or does the fender to door look like there is a big mismatch? Looks ok from other angles though.

And only 4,231 miles but the 14-pin drip shield is already missing! How does that even happen?

Good catch Nate. Those pics are much better.

It shows pretty well but the throttle quadrant and fuel damper show corrosion, unexpected for a low miles Beverly Hills/Texas car. Looks more like it made it to Massachusetts in January, or maybe someone spilled a margarita on it while parked at Laguna Beach.

Beautiful Black GTS!

What is that little tool in the tool panel next to the spark plug wrench?

It's the wheel center cap/locking lug nut removal hook - I think it is usually the first 'tool' to vanish.

Beautiful car, but I agree, the corrosion on various parts under hood for what should be a museum quality car would be bothersome to me. Initially I would think storage in a non-climate controlled space where there are big temperature swings causing condensation (but how likely is that in SOCAL and TX?). Another possibility is engine cleaning with something like Simple Green, which if not rinsed thoroughly, will attack the cad plating. Or life near the ocean.

Also, is the hatch receiver liner missing? Are the headlights mis-aligned (77Tony)?

That's about the lowest mileage GTS I've seen advertised. Must have sat unused for sometime. When was that and under what condition.....
I'll be out there and will review the documentation with the RM guys. I not planning on bidding, unless my wife makes me!!

The "mismatch" @ the door/fender on the Sotheby's 928 GTS, might be: the reflection of bldg(s). side by side w/ one of the bldgs'. roof being taller than the other --or -- the angles of the door & fender combined w/ the gap between them, are "splitting" a reflection of a straight roof line on some bldg(s)..

btw: I can't remember when any of my cars had only 4231 mi.. Beautiful car!

Must be an illusion. Looks fine from this angle.
