dr bob, I totally understand how different the two cars are. Yours is a GT and mine is an RS....or should I say it's on it's way back to it's true calling as a sporty little tart with an RS/RSR interior and minimal luxuries. What ever she is, she does ring my bell everytime I fire her up.

The way I see it, I work pretty darn hard for my money. I'm over here in Iraq right now working in a construction camp. Get to come home around 3 times a year. So I drive pretty much whatever the heck I want, well I guess whatever I can afford! If someone doesn't like it, they can take a hike.
I guess part of the reason my 79 928 5-speed's been parked in my garage for over 20 years is when it last was running in the late 80s, the majority of 911 owners I met were like that.
I'll just paraphrase a line I've seen on a Norton forum I follow (yeah, I have one of those too):
"If you turn on the light in your garage and smile, you own the right car."

I added a PS to my posting back on page 5 that briefly described a lunch at Weissach with Hans Mezger. I'll now add another "bit" about that, following Dr. Bob's comments. After the recommendation of the two Porsches - 928 and 911SC - as the best cars made up to that time in 1987, Hans' associate described the following (read with a Deutsche accent!!).
" I drive my 928 from my home to my ski chalet in Switzerland which is 250 miles away. The trip takes me 2 hours, and when I arrive I put on my skis and have a wonderful day skiing. IF Hans follows me in his 911SC, he will be exhausted when he arrives and will have to rest the remainder of the day". Hans responded with "Yah Wohl, I would".
Nuff said about the differences!!

plus what's this 911 vs 928 thing? is it because 928's can't beat the 951's that you guys are picking on the 911 beetles? we all know 911's are for concourse shows only, what else can they be good for?
Btw the camera that was mounted on that 944 Turbo is available for purchase

i havent read all the thread it would take several days! i race a 993 gt2 evo and a 928 gts. the gt2 is obviously much faster, but the old gts beats anything in its class on the road legal tyres we have to run including 944 turbos, 964 cup, 993 cup. it has a great balance and is a pleasure to drive! 911s always feel like hard work even when set up to near dammit perfection! tell mr porsche the 928 makes a more manly noise. i still cant believe how many people see front engined porsches as a lesser porsche?
in the GTS, say no more-
